Many of us did not realize that the Philippine rum and brandy industry has something that we should be proud of even in the global stage. Emperador was its success story last year when it officially acquired Spain's Fundador, the world's biggest brandy company, which is a historical moment for the industry. In 2017, it is Tanduay's time to shine.

Tanduay has inked its partnership with the Brooklyn Nets of the National Basketball Association (NBA) and its home arena, the Brooklyn Center, making the former the official rum of the team and the arena. According to NBA.com, it will also be the presenting sponsor of the venue's 40/40 Club and restaurant as well as the associate sponsor of the Center's Brooklyn Show platform. This simply means that whenever you watch an NBA game featuring the Brooklyn Nets inside the Brooklyn Center, you may have noticed the Tanduay logo while waiting for the game to start.

The partnership between Tanduay, Brooklyn Nets and the Brooklyn Center begins on March 12, 2017 (March 13 Manila time) with a post-game party at the venue's 40/40 Club and Restaurant following the game between the Brooklyn Nets and the New York Knicks.

Tanduay has established itself as a known sports brand since it previously had PBA teams since the league's inception in 1975 until the 1980s, and from 1999 to 2001. At present, it has a team in the PBA D-League called the Tanduay Rhum Masters.
