Globe Telecom, the leading telecommunications brand in the Philippines,
and MET, Southeast Asia's premiere eSports tournament organizer, have forged
and teamed up for the staging of probably one of the country's highly
anticipated events to hit 2018, the Philippine Pro Gaming League.
Slated to be the largest multi-title eSports league in the country, the
Philippine Pro Gaming League will pit amateur and professional gamers from
different parts of the country against each other in a series of tournaments featuring
three of the most popular eSports titles in our local shores today - Tekken 7,
DOTA 2, and Arena of Valor. However, unlike any other local pro gaming tourney,
the Philippine Pro Gaming League is more than just a professional league.
The Philippine Pro Gaming League is set to feature amateur and pro
gamers competing and their own stories of beginnings, struggles and challenges
leading to their journey towards pro gaming glory, and these will be done
through a documentary series which will be aired on television soon. With that
in mind, the new league will open a new chapter in the history of professional
gaming in the Philippines and probably set a new standard for future local eSports
events. But at the same time, it will benefit the organizers as well.
For MET, the Philippine Pro Gaming League would mark the evolution of
what it has been through for professional gaming considering that it has been staging
tournaments in the Philippines and Southeast Asia since 2008. On the other
hand, Globe is looking forward to play a huge role in the further development
and evolution of the Philippine pro gaming scene.
