The continuing threat of the global COVID-19 pandemic does not stop campus journalists and student publication advisers in their mission to #PushThePressPower and aspiring campus journalists to showcase their works for a chance of grabbing a national journalistic stint as the national school paper award-giving body Best Designed Campus Papers of the Philippines (BDCP) officially kicked off the first National Campus Press Olympiad (NCPO), the first nationwide online journalism tournament featuring a series of competitions for grade school, high school and college students with the theme "Promoting Community Development Through Multi-Platform Campus Journalism".

Aiming to help campus journalists hone their craft through friendly competitions, the NCPO is divided into two parts - the side events which will run until May 2 and the main events to be held on May 12-20. Open to all, the NCPO side events include ten different side events comprising a wide range of journalism and creative competitions that promote critical and artistic thinking. On the other hand, the main events covering interactive multimedia publishing, mobile journalism and print and online media will be exclusive for grade school, high school and college categories. Interested campus journalists joining the main events are mandated to pay the registration fee of either Php100, Php200, Php300 or Php500 depending if they belong to the individual, duo, trio or group events while fees for the side events are waived.

Participants can take part in as many categories as they wish considering that no limit on the number of participants per publication or school is imposed by management and granted that there is no conflict in the schedule of the competitions. Each event will have ten finalists and only three of them will be recognized with e-certificates, medals and others depending on its sponsors while the winning entries will be published in the upcoming issue of BDCP Digest. Celebrities such as Robi Domingo, DanVibes, Doc Adam, PBA's Jeff Chan, Julius Segovia and Maey Bautista are also encouraging campus journalists to take part in the said event. The BDCP National Campus Press Olympiad (NCPO) is co-produced by Laguna-based events firm Aloha PH.
