The longest holiday season in the world is already underway. While
Filipinos are starting to become ecstatic about their plans for Christmas, television
stations in the Philippines remain positive in delivering fresh and
entertaining content that would surely delight young and old viewing audiences
all throughout the season.
With that in mind, here are five new shows that Filipino viewers should
look forward to at the start of the holiday season.
1. The Promise of Forever
(ABS-CBN), Premieres September 11 on Kapamilya Gold
After months of delay, the true number one television station in the
Philippines is all set to bring what is considered to be its most expensive
drama series ever produced so far to the viewing masses and it is assured to be
a hit in the afternoon. But, don't think that this series has a strong resemblance
to the phenomenal Korean fantasy drama Goblin because the story in the series
is way different. Just check this music video out and you will see what I mean.
2. How To Get Away with Murder Season 4 (Sony Channel), Premieres September 22 at 8:50 pm within 12 hours of US telecast
Annalise Keating (Viola Davis) returns to the small screens in the latest season of one of Sony Channel's most popular shows to hit the Philippines and parts of Asia. If you think that you have seen many shocking twists and turns in the previous seasons, then there are many reasons why you should tune in to this new one. The fourth season revolves around the lives of Annalise's students as well as the truth behind the murder of Wes (Alfred Enoch).

3. Twenty Again (Jeepney TV), Premieres September 10 at 9:10 pm

ABS-CBN has been delivering its own line of popular and engaging Korean
dramas to every segment of the Filipino viewing audience where almost all of
them are those you have never watched before, and one new example is Twenty
Again. This K-drama is about a woman in her late 30s who decided to go back to school after being misdiagnosed with cancer hoping to live the life she missed when she got pregnant at an early age. Unfortunately, things will get messy for No-ra when her son becomes her classmate, her husband accepts a job at the same university and her professor turns out to be a former admirer in her high school years. Boy, reading
the plot of the series at Wikipedia seems bizaare at first but there are
reasons why Korean drama lovers should stay glued to it all the way.
4. The Good Son (ABS-CBN), Premieres
September 25 on Primetime Bida
A few weeks ago, ABS-CBN released the first teaser of its upcoming
drama series The Good Son to the surprise of many viewing households. Many
would think that this will be the next big hit in the afternoon, but they prove
wrong as it is confirmed that the crime drama is slated to replace A Love To
Last on primetime. Watching the full trailer recently reminded me of
"Nasaan Ka Elisa" which has a uniquely delightful ending but this is
all about the mysterious death of a father and who among his two legitimate and
two illegitimate sons is responsible. This makes pretty much sense why ABS-CBN
decides to put it on early late nights instead of before the regional TV Patrol
newscasts. Anyway, here's the full trailer of The Good Son.
5. Taken (AXN), Premieres
September 20
