ONE
Championship, the largest and most exciting mixed martial arts (MMA) organization
in Asia, formally announced its upcoming documentary series named Rich
Franklin's ONE Warrior Series where MMA legend and ONE FC vice president Rich
"Ace" Franklin travels to various gyms across Asia in search for the
region's next MMA star.
"At ONE Championship, one of our biggest missions is taking martial arts which is Asia's greatest cultural treasure and placing it front and center for the world to witness. One of the best ways to do this is to develop local homegrown martial arts superheroes," said ONE chairman Chatri Sityodtong. For Rich Franklin, it is only a matter of time before the next martial arts star will be discovered considering that he has witnessed the likes of Angela Lee and Eduard Folayang descend and evolve from the grassroots level to where they are today which makes sense why it is timely for ONE to discover more potential stars who will make an impact in the world of MMA through this documentary series.
A multiple-time
middleweight world champion, Franklin will travel across Asian nations to visit
local gyms within Bangkok, Manila, Seoul and Tokyo to find and discover new and
upcoming talents. Deserving prospects will be rewarded with a six-figure
contract from ONE Championship. The promotion's elite production team will be following
Ace's journey across the region chronicling the action to produce a series of thrilling
and compelling documentary videos.
Prospects
particating in the series will have to go through a series of rigorous
screenings and tryouts which comprises of pad sessions, grappling
demonstrations, conditioning exams and interview sessions. Once selected,
athletes must compete in trial exhibition bouts for a chance to earn a ONE Championship
contract based on their performance. With that in mind, Rich Franklin's ONE
Warrior Series is expected to debut in the first quarter of 2018.
