ABS-CBN Seals Big at Anak TV Awards 2017

ABS-CBN Corporation, the premiere media and entertainment company in the Philippines, garnered the most number of Anak TV awards for its child-friendly programs and personalities including four who have entered the Makabata Hall of Fame. 

Those who are elevated in the said distinction include ABS-CBN chief content officer and MMK host Charo Santos-Concio, Piolo Pascual, Anne Curtis and Megastar Sharon Cuneta after being voted as Makabata Stars for seven consecutive years. Meanwhile, Kapamilya stars who were named Male and Female Makabata Stars for 2017 include news personalities Noli De Castro and Anthony Taberna, KathNiel (Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla), JoshLia (Joshua Garcia and Julia Barretto), Bea Alonzo, Liza Soberano, Lea Salonga, Robi Domingo, Julia Montes, Ian Veneracion, Sylvia Sanchez, Susan Roces and Yassi Pressman of FPJ's Ang Probinsyano and Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach.

On the other hand, six of the most-watched shows in the Philippines are hailed as household favorite TV programs. These include top-rating primetime dramas FPJ's Ang Probinsyano and La Luna Sangre, Asia's longest-running drama anthology Maalaala Mo Kaya, the country's number one daytime show It's Showtime, award-winning educational program Matanglawin, and trusted primetime news program TV Patrol.

Among the network's hit shows that have earned the coveted Anak TV Seal are A Love To Last, Be My Lady, FPJ's Ang Probinsyano, Home Sweetie Home, Langit Lupa, MMK, Magandang Buhay, Matanglawin, My Dear Heart, Oyayi, Salamat Dok, Superbook, Umagang Kay Ganda, Wansapanataym and Your Face Sounds Familiar Kids. Many of ABS-CBN Regional's shows have also bestowed the said seal which comprises of Agri Tayo Dito, several TV Patrol editions, Mag TV Na, regional morning and variety shows and ABS-CBN Bacolod's public service show Salandigan.

Anak TV Seal awardees were chosen by a board of jurors which comprises of parents, teachers, non-government organizations and other sectors of society on television programs. The iconic Anak TV Seal is being given by the Anak TV Foundation which advocates television literacy and pushes the agenda for child-sensitive, family-friendly television in the Philippines.
