How Columbia's Starter Fare Well in Philippine Cinemas

Fresh for the phenomenal success of the 2017 Metro Manila Film Festival, Columbia Pictures Philippines kicked off the new year with the highly-anticipated showing of its 2018 starter "Jumanji: Welcome To The Jungle" and it didn't disappoint Filipino movie buffs as it fare big and well in local cinemas since it was first shown on January 8, 2018. 

According to figures from Columbia Pictures, the action-adventure film was a smash hit in its first seven days in Philippine movie theaters, earning a whopping Php115 million in box-office sales. It's not that bad considering that it is performing better than the return of Star Wars: The Lost Jedi in local cinemas. The movie has reached its US$300 million mark in international box-office sales and grossed more than US$260 million in the US throughout its 24-day run.

"Jumanji: Welcome To The Jungle" revolves around four high school teenagers being sucked to the video game of the same name found in an old backyard as their own avatars on an thrilling action-packed journey into the perilous lands of, well, the same name. The modern reimagining on the big screens stars Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, Jack Black, Kevin Hart, Karen Gillian and Nick Jonas to name a few. Distributed by Columbia Pictures Philippines, "Jumanji: Welcome To The Jungle" is still showing in local theaters nationwide.
