ESPN5, the number one sports channel in the Philippines, is pulling out
all the stops in delivering non-stop action and bringing in a sleuth of live
events and engagingly thrilling programming for the entire month of May which will
be dubbed as Live Boxing Month and it is no joke when it comes to what is
offering throughout the occasion.
Well, first and foremost, headlining ESPN5's Live Boxing Month is the highly-anticipated IBF Super Flyweight championship bout between the defending champion Jerwin Ancajas and fellow Filipino boxer Jonas Sultan. This bout should be worth intriguing considering it will be the first time two Filipino boxers are vying against each other in a world championship title fight in more than 90 years or so. The fight is scheduled to take place in Las Vegas, Nevada on May 27, 2018 (Manila time) and it will be shown live exclusively on ESPN5.
But kicking off the month is a whole sleuth of non-stop world-class
boxing action on May 13th, which will be highly regarded as Live Boxing Day,
starting off with the exclusive telecast of a highly-intriguing world
lightweight championship bout between Jorge Linares (44-3, 27 KOs) and the fast
and hard-hitting Vasyl Lomancheko (10-1, 8 KOs) at 10 am followed by a special
event to be held at the SM North EDSA SkyDome featuring our own stable of the
finest Filipino boxers in today's generation.
And this special event will be entitled "Survival Instinct"
since our own pride coming from the infamous Joven Jimenez Survival Camp are
slated to showcase their own wild skills, toughness and resilience against
their opponents in an event presented by MP Promotions and Knuckleheads Pro
Boxing Fraternity. The top draw among the event's nine-bout card will feature
2012 Filipino Olympian Mark Anthony Barriga (8-0, 1 KO) taking on Mexico's Gabriel
Mendoza (29-5-2, 23 KOs) in an International Boxing Federation minimumweight
world title eliminator where the winner is set to face the current champion
Hiroto Kyoguchi.
Other notable fighters are also set to take center stage and entertain
the audience on the said event which will include AJ "Bazooka" Banal,
"Marvelous" Melvin Sonsona, and recent world title challenger Genesis
"Azukal" Servania. Of course, boxing fans can also enjoy Linares vs.
Lomancheko live at SM City North EDSA as well. Tickets are available at all SM

As part of Live Boxing Month, ESPN5 will continue to feature some of
the greatest fights in boxing history straight from ESPN's growing library of
archived sports content every Tuesdays and Thursdays at 10 am. Meanwhile,
