The Spartan Race is highly regarded as one of the toughest and most
challenging outdoor sporting events in the world today which has steadily drawn
the attention of anyone who is interested to take part in it and test his or her
own limits. In case you are not familiar with this unique race, it features a
series of tough obstacles throughout the course where participants can run, jump,
climb, swing, crawl across a bevy of mud, fire, barbed wire and other small but
dangerous hindrances.
There has been a sleuth of Spartan Race events held across different
parts of the country, and one is set to be held in the wonderful province of
Batangas for the first time. Fortunately, the first Spartan Race event in the province
would happen to be the first leg of the Spartan 2019 Southeast Asian Regional
Series which aims to prepare the athletes who seek to compete in the obstacle
course race event in the upcoming 2019 SEA Games in the Philippines.
Co-organized by Spartan Race Philippines and AboitizLand, the Spartan LIMA Beast/Sprint
2019 is set to take place on May 3 and 4, 2019 between Lipa City and Malvar, Batangas.
The Spartan LIMA Beast/Sprint 2019 will feature three different races,
namely: the Spartan Sprint, a 5-kilometer race with 20 obstacle courses which
will serve as a qualifier for the SEA Series; the Spartan Beast, a 21-kilometer
race with 30 obstacle courses; and the first-ever Hurricane Heat 12-Hour race
in the Philippines, an extreme boot camp that aims to test the endurance of the
participants. Thousands of local and international athletes are slated to
gather and compete in the obstacle race and endurance brand where the winners of
the series will compete in the Asia Pacific Championships on August 2019 against
the qualifiers from the East Asia Series and Australian National Series.
Spartan Race Philippines race director Michael Reyes stated in the
press conference for the upcoming event that one of its events is the closest
thing that they would see in a 5K run in the SEA Games. He also mentioned that
the Spartan LIMA Beast/Sprint 2019 is among many qualifying events that are slated
to take place in the coming months although it is not officially a SEA Games qualifier
and the organization will be excited to see the Spartan Race go to the level of
major international sporting events, even the Olympics.
Those who are interested to join the Spartan LIMA Beast/Sprint 2019 or
have already registered to take part in it may need to have some serious
training before the race proper and the best place to do it is Crossfit Lipa
inside The Outlets at Lipa which can be found near The Aboitiz Pitch. They may
need to be prepared for what's ahead before they are greenlighting themselves
to Batangas' first historic Spartan Race event. For more updates and details on
