The holiday season in the Philippines is looking bright for the
Philippine eSports scene as professional gaming makes its debut as an official
medal sport in the 2019 Southeast Asian Games to be held in our shores on November
30-December 11 with our own national team SIBOL entering the fray while Filipino
gamers remain ecstatic on the inaugural season of The Nationals, the country's first
franchise-based professional gaming league, which is near its end. Not to be outdone
in closing another monumental year, however, is the Philippine Pro Gaming
League.
The second season of the PPGL was an excitingly intriguing one to be
honest considering that I was able to watch its grand finale weekend last
August on television, but I never thought that it will make its return just a
few months after its highly successful previous season. In any case, PPGL is
set to make the holiday season in the Philippines and probably the end of 2019 more
exciting with the impending start of its third season which is expected to be
packed with an action-packed showcase of Filipino gaming prowess.
For the third season, the premiere multi-game tournament in the country
will feature four virtually action-packed tournaments for League of Legends
(LoL), Mobile Legends Bang Bang (MLBB), Rules of Survival (RoS) and Tekken 7 to
be participated by hundreds of aspiring and renouned professional gamers from
different parts of the country. The season is slated to kick off with a series
of online qualifying events or LoL, MLBB and RoS starting this weekend until November.
On the other hand, the PPGL Tekken 7 tournament will be opened with offline
qualifying events throughout the month of November which will be held in three
of the country's major cities namely Cagayan De Oro, Cebu City and Manila.
Registration is still open for those who are interested to participate
in the PPGL and showcase their own gaming skills and prowess against the best
in the country. For more information on registration details for the series of
PPGL Season 3 online qualifiers, visit its official Facebook page here. The Philippine
Pro Gaming League is presented by Globe Telecom, the premiere purveyor of the
Filipino digital lifestyle experience, and Mineski Events Team (MET), the event
management and production division of one of the most prominent names in the Philippine
eSports scene.
