For the fourth time in its history, the prestigious biennial
multi-sport Southeast Asian Games will take place in the Philippines on
November 30 - December 11, 2019. With the goal of 'promoting cooperation,
understanding and relations' among the eleven member countries in Southeast Asia,
the 30th SEA Games is set to be the largest with 56 sporting events and the
debut of eSports as an official medal event. The 5 Network and Cignal, the official
broadcasters of the 2019 SEA Games in the Philippines, are joining forces to make
the event more accessible to Filipinos.
How comprehensive is the Philippine broadcast coverage of the 2019 SEA
Games? Well, under their umbrella campaign "Sama-Sama Sa SEA Games",
the number one sports channel in the Philippines and the country's premiere direct-to-home
satellite TV provider hope to unite Filipinos in and out of the country and
encourage them to rally behind the Filipino athletes and support them in the
games. The two networks also recognize and will take advantage of the power of
television and social media in order to provide the most comprehensive in-depth
sports coverage that is deemed to be incomparable with other local TV networks.
On free TV, 5 will handle the airing of basketball, boxing, billiards and
badminton which were regarded as the most medal-hungry events for the competing
athletes while 5 Plus will be home to eSports where SIBOL, the Philippine
national professional gaming team, is out to make history and the local gaming
communities proud as well as several fight sports events like karatedo and
taekwondo among others. ONE Sports on Cignal will broadcast these games on high
definition while viewers can catch a dose of SEA Games action online via ESPN5.com, Facebook Live and the ESPN5 mobile app available on Google Play and Apple App Store.
In addition, 5 and Cignal have announced the launch of three new
channels on television and online that are dedicated exclusively to this year's
biennial regional multi-sport channel: the SEA Games Channel, Team Pilipinas
and SEA Games News Channel. The SEA Games Channel, which is internationally syndicated,
offers a live uninterrupted coverage of everything that is happening during the
duration of the event while Team Pilipinas airs games where the Philippine
athletes are competing in. The SEA Games News Channel, on the other hand,
provides news and analysis on the sporting events and the participating
athletes. These SEAG-dedicated channels will be available 24/7 on ESPN5's official
YouTube channel and to Cignal and Satlite TV subscribers nationwide for free.
Furthermore, "Sama-Sama Sa SEA Games" is supported by none
other than Smart Communications Inc. which will be made possible through Smart
5G technology which aims to provide beyond faster internet service so that sports fans and aficionados can enjoy a seamless experience and worry-free viewing pleasure all the way. With that much
said, you will have plenty of reasons why the 2019 SEA Games is among the ones
to watch for in the holiday season.
