After capping off 2019 as the newest member of ABS-CBN Books' roster of
bestselling authors, Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray is kickstarting the new
chapter of her career in 2020 by bringing her signature charm to noontime
television as one of the special hosts in "Mini Miss U: Search For The
Next ABS-CBN Child Superstar", one of the new segments launched on the
daily noontime variety show It's Showtime.
Mini Miss U is a pageant for little girls who want to unleash their inner
beauty queen in them and showcase their wit, talent and passion for the benefit
of their chosen causes. Each day, three charming young beauty queens compete to
become the daily winner who will then have a shot at pursuing her advocacy or getting
her wish come true in the weekly finals. The grand winner of the competition
will have a chance at becoming the next child superstar of ABS-CBN. "They're
really cute. And just to see them performing so well in the stage and having such
confidence at that age - it's really amazing to see," said Catriona who is
also taking lessons to improve her Tagalog speaking voice.
Aside from Mini Miss U, It's Showtime also launched "Piling
Lucky" which aims to bring good fortune to the madlang people. Each day,
the show opens its doors to fans who are lining up at the ABS-CBN Audience
Entrance from which the Lucky 100 will be drawn. From 100, the Lucky 20 players
will be brought to the studio to carry out different challenges using their chosen
lucky items in the succeeding rounds. In the end, the remaining players from the
Lucky 20 will play the ultimate game of luck for a chance to win the base
jackpot prize of Php50,000. If no one succeeds, then it will be added to the
accumulated jackpot prize the next day.
On the other hand, Philippine television's premiere amateur singing
competition kicked off its fourth season as "Tawag Ng Tanghalan"
continues to scour in and out of the country in search for the next singing superstar
who will follow in the footsteps of grand winners Noven Belleza, Janine Berdin
and Elaine Duran. This season boosts the stakes of all contenders placing the
daily winner and the defending champion under the threat of the iconic 'gong'
in the daily faceoff round. Aside from the head judge, four other judges can
also 'gong' a contender by pressing their buzzers during the performance. This is
dubbed the "power of four", a new feature gradually introduced in the
new season. Furthermore, four industry icons will soon be introduced as the latest
additions to the competition's highly esteemed panel of judges. Among them recently
is Asia's Queen of Songs, Ms. Pilita Corales.
Never miss out on all the surprises of "Mini Miss U",
"Piling Lucky" and the fourth year of "Tawag Ng Tanghalan" on
the Philippines' number one noontime show It's Showtime, airing every Monday to
Friday at 12:15 pm and Saturday at 11:45 am on ABS-CBN and ABS-CBN HD (Skycable
channel 167, Sky Direct channel 2).
