2019 was considered a banner year for VIVA Films as it produced arguably the most number of theatrical releases by any entertainment company in the Philippines. With that in mind, one of the largest film production firms in the country has reforged a new vision for the Year of the Metal Rat promising to produce and release thirty four films throughout the entire year with an investment of over billion pesos.

The Year of the Earth Pig was definitely a miraculous one for VIVA. It has somehow broadened the taste of Filipino viewers with a unique slate of releases featuring experimental and daring subjects, online content turned commercial releases, book to film adaptations and foreign adaptations flavored with a Filipino twist. These include the following: Maria, the first Filipino film on Netflix; Ulan, a surreal romance; Just A Stranger, a May-December affair; the comeback of 90s comedians in Sanggano, Sanggago't Sanggwapo; the online to book to film sensation Jowable; the gentle love of Unforgettable; the daring Adan; the silent and deadly Mananita; The Mall, The Merrier featuring the first-time teamup of Vice Ganda and Anne Curtis; and MMFF 2019's sleeper hit Miracle In Cell No. 7.

What can Filipino moviegoers expect from VIVA in 2020? Well, for starters, it kicked off the new year with the Valentines Day offering On Vodka, Beers And Regrets reuniting the romantic big-screen tandem of JC Santos and Bela Padilla which was off to a good start with an opening day gross of Php6.3 million. And this is only the beginning as it is bound to bare more new original Filipino stories such as Devoted, Hindi Tayo Pwede, Rooftop, Tiliing, Untrue, Nightshift, The Other Woman, Love The Way You Lie, Walang KaParis, You F Oh, Pakboys, Mang Jose and Ultimate Oppa. In addition, VIVA is slated to reimagine films from around the world and flavor them with a little Filipino charm with global borders for content steadily diminishing. These include A Hard Day, Spellbound, Wedding Dress, The Housemaid, A Man And A Woman, More Than Blue, The Wedding Breaker and Instructions Not Included which hope to follow the success of Miracle In Cell No. 7 and Miss Granny in local cinemas.

Furthermore, inspired by the global blockbuster success of superhero movies from Marvel and DC, VIVA is ready to present a universe of Filipino superheroes to the big screens. From the creative genius of National Artist Francisco Coching and the legendary Filipino Komiks King Carlo J. Caparas, VIVA brings you Pedro Penduko, Joaquin Bordado, Elias Paniki, Gagambino, Kamandag, Valora, Berdugo, Totoy Bato and Panday. These upcoming films are a strong testament to VIVA's undaunting trust to Philippine cinema. With these on hand, this is VIVA Films' renewed vision for the Year of the Metal Rat - the VIVA 2020 Vision.
