The partnership deal between the two government-operated media entities was forged last July 9, 2020 inside the New Executive Building's Press Briefing Room at MalacaƱang Palace with PCOO Secretary Martin Andanar and IBC Officer-In-Charge (OIC) Corazon Reboso leading the signing (picture above). Witnessing the occasion were Ablan, IBC production manager Gina Borinaga and Katherine Chloe De Castro, former IBC President and CEO and current general manager of People's Television Network (PTV). Under the co-production agreement, PCOO's FOI-PMO and IBC will produce episodes for the one-hour informative public affairs program.
F.Y.I. aims to inform the public of existing and new programs and services offered by the national government as well as the transparency and Freedom Of Information initiatives of various government agencies. The PCOO, the Philippine government's lead communications arm, recognizes the role and power of the media in disseminating relevant and true information to Filipino citizens, especially amidst the challenging times they are facing, and influencing their public opinion and behaviour regarding the latest issues and events happening.
Ablan hopes that through the new public service program, Filipinos will be more cognizant of their right to access government information and be able to know more about its projects, initatives and policies aimed at their welfare. F.Y.I. will be aired every first Saturday of the month on IBC 13 starting August 1st. Aside from F.Y.I., the PCOO is also tapping IBC 13 for blended learning that will be utilized for the new school year starting August 24th as confirmed by the Department of Education (DepEd) and Commission On Higher Education (CHED) under the recommendation of the Inter-Agency Task Force.
