In celebration of its 17th year anniversary and the overwhelmingly delightful support of millions of viewers making the channel the most watched in the country (based on ratings data from Kantar and Nielsen), PBO presented its month-long Digitally Enhanced Film Fest. Freshly airing on all Saturdays of August at 9:30 pm, PBO showcases some of the most enjoyable and well-loved classic Filipino films digitally restored and enhanced for the viewing pleasure of all generations of movie-loving small-screen viewers in today's modern world. It kicked off last August 1st with "Bagets" - the highly-successful coming-of-age movie starring Aga Muhlach, William Martinez, Raymond Lauchengco, JC Bonnin, and Herbert Bautista - followed one week later by "Maging Sino Ka Man", the first movie collaboration of Robin Padilla and Megastar Sharon Cuneta.
The PBO Digitally Enhanced Film Fest resumes on August 15th with "Darna, Ang Pagbabalik". The 14th edition of Mars Ravelo's Darna starring Anjanette Abayari revolves around the disaster brought by the eruption of Mt. Pinatubo as Narda fights to recover her magic stone to be the hero that the people badly need. "Anak Ni Baby Ama" starring Robin Padilla, showing on August 22, is a fictional account of what might have been the life of the son of Baby Ama who was a real-life hoodlum electrocuted in the 60s. Burdened with the awful legacy of his father, will he end up just like him? The filmfest ends on August 29th with "Working Girls" directed by Ishmael Bernal and starring Hilda Koronel, Chanda Romero, Gina PareƱo, Rio Locsin and Carmi Martin. The classic 80s romantic comedy flick tackles women's issues such as discrimination in the office, dealing with the ego of a woman's husband, trying to make ends meet, and accidental pregnancy.
