After being prominently featured in the 34th Tokyo International Film Festival (TIFF) last year, the Philippine episode of HBO Asia original series Food Lore received two additional feathers in its cap in the inaugural ContentAsia Awards held last August 28. The gastronomical series won Best Asian Drama Series For Regional/International Markets while multi-awarded film director Erik Matti was hailed as Best Director Of A Scripted TV Programme for the series' premiere episode Island Of Dreams.
Food Lore: Island Of Dreams explores the life of Nieves (Angeli Bayani), an ambitious and hardworking woman who left her husband and children to work as a domestic helper in Metro Manila to provide them a better life. Returning home for an annual fiesta, Nieves realizes that she may have grown estranged to her family due to the unexpected changes that happened in her life. Written by Michiko Yamamoto and touching on the diaspora of Filipino workers overseas, Matti explained in an HBO Asia featurette that Food Lore: Island Of Dreams is all about change, thinking beyond what one is doing and deciding whether to stay stagnant or move forward. He is hopeful that the specific episode will inspire Filipinos to do more and not settle for less.

The ContentAsia Awards recognizes the best content that Asia has to offer in local and international markets and aims to celebrate the best content for various audiences across the globe. HBO Asia's eight-episode original anthology series Food Lore, which explores human conditions with narratives inspired by Asian cuisines, was recognized for its unique weave of different stories for audiences in Asian and global markets. Helmed by award-winning Singaporean filmmaker Eric Khoo, Food Lore gathers the best storytellers in the region to develop stories that reflect an emotional journey with passion, treasured memories and a little spice of Asia.

All eight episodes of Food Lore are available for streaming and binge-watching on HBO GO for Skycable and Cignal subscribers or via https://www.hbogoasia.com. HBO GO app can also be accessed on Android and iOS devices as well as Android TV, Apple TV, LG TV and Samsung Smart TV.
