Legendary UK-based media powerhouse NME (New Musical Express) has officially launched NME.com/Asia, a dedicated online platform that celebrates established and emerging homegrown talent across Asia. With an initial focus on the Philippines, Singapore and Malaysia but is slated to expand rapidly, NME.com/Asia promises a fresh take on the Southeast Asian music scene and bucks the trend of the media industry, which is contracting globally.
The platform will deliver daily music and pop culture news from Asia and around the world, weekly New Music Monday features and definitive guides on what's new in music, gaming, film and television. Every month there will be a Regional Artist spotlight, which will provide a new and in-depth platform for Asian artists, looking to make the leap from their homegrown markets to a wider audience across the region and the globe. NME.com/Asia follows the platform's 2019 launch of NME.com/Australia, which now attracts more than 500,000 unique readers every month, as part of its global expansion.

Established in 1952, NME has been a defining voice in music and pop culture and is evolved to become world-renouned for breaking what's new and what's next. NME's major expansion in Southeast Asia is a vote of confidence in the strength and potential of the regional music market and will build on the brand's existing international audience. With its headquarters in Singapore, the NME Asia editorial team is headed by former Time Out Singapore editor Iliyas Ong along with former Bandwagon editor and NPR writer Karen Gwee and will manage a wide network of established music and pop culture journalists from Singapore, Malaysia and the Philippines.

With most of us spending quite a lot of time at home - whether you're busy working from home or getting into the rhythm of online classes - a well-deserved break is always a good idea and the best place to start is spending part of your time discovering a new show with an exciting premise. And what better way to do it is to watch Bad Genius on your PCs and smartphones via iflix and WeTV Philippines for FREE.

Thailand's highest-grossing movie of 2017 inspired by true events surrounding a cheating scandal on standardized testing, Bad Genius tells the story of four students banding together to make money by helping other students cheat on their exams and pass their classes. Its spin-off TV series of the same name produced by Thailand-based production firm Gross Domestic Happiness (GDH), on the other hand, continues to tell the stories of these students but their relationships will be put to a test as they maneuver their way through high school while trying out new (but sometimes wild) cheating tactics.

New episodes of Bad Genius: The Series are dropped every Monday and Tuesday on the two streaming platforms but you can catch up on what you have missed whether before a new episode comes in or after. Anyway, iflix is Asia's leading online entertainment service featuring the best of local, regional and international content which can be seen in Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia and the Philippines while WeTV is home to premium Asian entertainment content including the best of China and the rest of Asia. Both these services are available on Google Play and Apple App Store.

GMA Network's Descendants Of The Sun: The Philippine Adaptation has been chosen as one of the three television drama series from around the world to be hailed as Best Foreign Drama Series in the 2020 Seoul International Drama Awards (SDA). Alongside TNT's Snowpiercer and The New Pope of HBO, Sky Atlantic and Canal+, the Seoul Drama Awards Organizing Committee (SDAOC) chose DOTS: The Philippine Adaptation for the said award because it is influenced by Korean content that received positive reception worldwide throughout the year.

GMA's local adaptation of one of the world's most well-loved Korean drama titles of the same name made its highly-anticipated Philippine television debut on February 10, 2020. A KBS original series, DOTS: The Philippine Adaptation has created and generated buzz for its compelling love story featuring a military-doctor relationship that is tested through war and danger. It is headlined by no less than Kapuso Primetime King Dingdong Dantes as Big Boss and Ultimate Star Jennylyn Mercado as Dra. Maxine. Days after the announcement, GMA Network received the Best Foreign Drama Series trophy from the Seoul Drama Awards Organizing Committee.

The 15th Seoul International Drama Awards will be held at the MBC Media Center Public Hall on September 10, 2020 but without a live audience due to the health and safety protocols imposed by the COVID-19 pandemic. Launched in 2006, the SDA is one of the world's leading film and TV festivals that recognizes top-quality programs and introduces them to global audiences. It happens to be the same organization that gave Kapuso stars Alden Richards, Dennis Trillo and Gabby Concepcion the Asian Star Prize award.
