For the past couple of months since May, Major League Wrestling (MLW) has been keeping its fans around the world entertained through its Anthology series featuring some of its best from the past and present, the classic MLW Underground series featuring the league's early years, and Pulp Fusion headlined by its current roster of athletes in their unique and entertaining stories leading to the league's resumption. At the same time, MLW has kept itself strong and intact amidst the continuing threat of the COVID-19 pandemic by maintaining and strengthening its talent roster, reforging strategic alliances, and locking in international broadcast and streaming deals. Now, it seems that the league is all set for the restart.
The fastest-growing sports-centric professional wrestling promotion in the world has recently concluded a series of lock-in tapings in an undisclosed location in North Richmond Hills, Texas last October and the episodes produced from these tapings are ready to be delivered for the first wave of #MLWTheRestart which is slated to begin on November 19, 8:00 am (Philippine time) on MLW's official YouTube channel. The resumption of MLW's flagship weekly television program will literally pick up from where it left off. Recalled correctly, the 109th episode of MLW Fusion concluded with CONTRA Unit's hostile takeover of the league following the success of the first MLW-AAA Super Series in Tijuana, Mexico. Aside from its resumption attempts, #MLWTheRestart will feature highly-competitive action that is set to be more action-packed and driven than what we usually watch in the previous episodes of Fusion.
What can we expect from #MLWTheRestart? Well, there's a lot that can be very intriguing to follow thanks to its Pulp Fusion series. At one point, one of the fresh new episodes will be executively produced by Promociones Dorado's Salina Dela Renta for the third time. Then there is The Dynasty's Richard Holliday literally picking up and fun on the irate backstage interviewer Alicia Atout while maintaining his claim as the IWA Heavweight Champion after taking the belt from the true current champion Savio Vega a few months ago. Let's not forget the heated rivalries between "Filthy" Tom Lawlor and the MLW World Tag Team Champions Marshall and Ross Van Erich as well as between Injustice and Brian Pillman Jr. Plus, expect to see the return of ACH and the MLW debut of Lio Rush as well as AAA Cruiserweight Champion Laredo Kid, Los Parks, Davey Boy Smith Jr., and more all throughout the restart's first wave.
Professional wrestling fans should also look forward to the 2020 Opera Cup and Battle Riot III in the coming months. With details yet to be disclosed including the participants slated to compete, the Opera Cup has been given a fresh new start after the league's acquisition from the family of the previous tournament winner back in the 1940s and is highly regarded as an annual tournament following its successful resumption back in late 2019. On the other hand, originally scheduled to be held on April, Battle Riot III is set to be another epic affair to remember during the restart with 40 competitors vying to earn a shot at the MLW World Heavyweight Championship. With these in mind and more on the horizon, it seems that even the threat of COVID-19 can't stop MLW from showcasing its own brand of grit and action-packed prowess that is certainly a unique sight to indulge amidst the challenging times faced by the world of professional wrestling. Here's a glimpse of what more you can expect at the restart especially MLW's resumption efforts against the infamously dangerous CONTRA unit.
