The pandemic has led to many changes in the way we live and conduct our lives without fear, worry or possibly doubt and among them happens to be taking most of our affairs outside if possible or maybe somewhere with an ample space. Well, in the past few months since restrictions brought by the community quarantine have began to ease, it seems that dining and watching movies the al fresco way is starting to become a thing since the threat of the pandemic is literally far from over.
We've learned and heard about watching movies under the stars with drive-in theaters slowly making a name for themselves at SM City Pampanga Amphitheater, SM Mall of Asia By The Bay, and even The Aboitiz Pitch at The Outlets At Lipa. Within these months, we've learned about a float-in cinema outside the country and I'm sure that many movie buffs would wish to have something like it in the country. Well, you're in luck because Megaworld Lifestyle Malls have already fulfilled one of their aspirations with the first float-in cinema in the Philippines at the dreamy Venice Grand Canal Mall in McKinley Hill, Taguig City.
Taking the outdoor movie experience to a whole new level, movies presented on a giant 12x7 inch screen mounted on the mall's Ponte Rialfo bridge can be enjoyed safely while riding aboard Venetian gondolas. For a fully intimate and physically distanced activity, only two patrons per gondola will be accommodated, with a maximum of 10 guests per screening which is scheduled at 6:00 pm and 9:00 pm everyday. Tickets can be purchased online at www.megaworldcinemas.com and are priced at Php500 per head (inclusive of snacks, bottled water and personal kits). No tickets will be sold at the venue, while guests are advised to arrive at least 15 minutes before screening time.
The movie's audio will be broadcasted via a specific radio frequency exclusively provided to moviegoers aboard the gondola. Movie buffs can connect their own personal earphones with a standard 3.55 mm audio jack to the gondola to be able to hear the audio. In case they forgot to bring their own earphones, worry not because they can be purchased at the Mumuso booth near the venue. Movie snacks can be ordered from partner restaurants via the dedicated QR codes posted inside the gondola. "With this first-of-its-kind cinema, we hope to bring happiness and uplift the spirits of our valued guests through our superb entertainment and movie experience," said Megaworld Lifestyle Malls head Graham Coates. "We also look forward to doing our share and helping those working in the film industry by offering a venue for movie screenings that is both safe and compliant with existing safety regulations."
