Since its inception in the international gaming scene last June 2020, Riot Games' popular multiplayer FPS game Valorant does not immediately come with a massive professional gaming tournament unlike previous launches of other eSports titles. But starting 2021, Valorant finally got its own global eSports circuit with the announcement of the Valorant Champions Tour.

The Champions Tour is a global tournament series similar to the League of Legends World Championship and will feature the best teams from around the world slated to compete in a series of regional tournaments leading to Valorant Champions which is the game's take on the LoL World Championship or simply known as Worlds. For its structure, the Valorant Champions Tour will kick off with the open qualifiers which is feeded into the Valorant Challengers where teams compete and face off against each other until the eight teams moving on to the Valorant Masters are determined.

There will be three international Valorant Masters events scheduled to be held on March, June and September 2021. In the Masters, teams will be awarded points and prizes depending on the place they finish at the end of each Masters tournament. The winners of these tournaments as well as the top teams in points by the end of the September 2021 Masters tournament will then move on to Valorant Champions on December 2021. On the other hand, teams that are not able to secure a Champions spot will get to participate in the Last Chance Qualifiers.
