The Professional Fighters League (PFL), the fastest-growing and most innovative mixed martial arts (MMA) organization today, officially announced the full card of its season opener, PFL 1, slated to be held on April 23rd. Headlining the said card is former UFC lightweight champion Anthony "Showtime" Pettis making his PFL MMA debut against two-sport phenom and knockout specialist Clay Collard. Pettis, who is best known for his "Showtime Kick", and Collard, a boxing specialist known as "The 0 Snatcher" for knocking out his opponents, are set to face off against each other in an unforgettable matchup.
PFL 1's co-main event features two-time PFL lightweight champion Nathan Schulte, who has an undefeated record in the league within the previous two seasons, starting the road to three-peat against Polish leg-lock expert Marcin Held. Meanwhile, kicking off the PFL 1 main card is two-time PFL featherweight champion Lance Palmer taking on his former wrestling nemesis Bubba Jenkins. Rounding off the main card is Movlid Khaybulaev, who became viral on social media following his ten-second flying knee knockout of Damon Jackson in his PFL debut back in 2019, set to face submission specialist Jason Saores.
“The PFL’s season kickoff on April 23 is one that is sure to be a showstopper and full of nonstop action,” said PFL CEO, Peter Murray. “The talent that exists within these matchups is unparalleled and we can’t wait to see the outcome of each fight. The PFL is proud to kick off its season on ESPN and ESPN+ and we are excited for our fans, old and new, around the world to experience premium MMA content.” “As a fighter-first organization, we take great pride in the matchups and superior talent of our fighters,” said PFL President of Fighter Operations, Ray Sefo. “I’m excited to kick off the season on April 23 with our featherweight and lightweight division matchups which are full of incredible talent.” Following its kickoff, the remaining PFL 2021 Regular Season events will take place on April 29, May 6, June 10, June 17, and June 25.
