Tanduay president and chief executive officer (CEO) Lucio Tan III and his younger brother, executive vice president (EVP) Kyle Tan, are leading the local beverage company's agressive expansion in the United States and different parts of the globe. Most recently, Kyle worked on Tanduay's partnership with American beverage distributor Hensley Beverage Company for the rum's expansion in the state of Arizona. The Tan brothers are also spearheading its presence in the digital space considering that they have a background in computer science and technology while previously worked for various tech giants in the USA.
Lucio Tan III has a bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering and a master's degree in Computer Science from Stamford University and has worked at Lyft in the Bay Area while Kyle graduated at the University of Southern California with a bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering and a master's degree in Computer Science and worked for Microsoft prior to joining Tanduay. Lucio has entrusted his younger brother Kyle the task of Tanduay's overseas expansion. Since then, Kyle has been hands-on in negotiating with potential distribution partners and exploring other exporting opportunities. In fact, Kyle has began spearheading Tanduay's expansion in Europe where the rum is initially available in Belgium, The Netherlands and Luxembourg as well as in Canada where the expansion should be done by the first quarter of 2021.
“Tanduay’s longevity is due to both tradition and innovation. While we have maintained the formulation and distillation process of our award-winning rums for decades, we are also always looking for ways to innovate our distribution channels so we could bring our products to more customers worldwide,” said Lucio Tan III. “Our partnerships have been crucial to our success in the most recent years. It is important that we work with organizations that share our values like Hensley Beverage Company. Like them, Tanduay is a home-grown brand that prioritizes excellence as shown by the quality we put in the craftsmanship of our products,” said Kyle Tan, who joined the company last year. The Tan brothers' goal for the aggressive overseas expansion is to continue the vision of their grandfather, Tanduay Chairman Lucio C. Tan, and their father, Lucio Tan Jr., to make proudly Philippine-made brands recognized around the world.
Tanduay has already eclipsed rum brands from other countries in terms of sales to emerge as the World's Number One Rum for three consecutive years. It has also received numerous awards and recognitions from international wine and spirits competitions and award-giving bodies in the US, China and Europe. Aside from Arizona, Tanduay is also available in the states of California, Florida, Hawaii, Illinois, Michigan, Minnesota, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, Tennessee, Wisconsin and Guam in the US as well as in China, Singapore, UAE and select cities in Europe.
