In partnership with several major universities in the country, Huawei Philippines launched a series of virtual recruitment events this year entitled "A Bigger, Bolder Future". Nearly 500 students from Mapua University and other Philippine educational institutions have attended the said event with hopes of kickstarting their career in the local ICT (Information and Communications Technology) industry and join Huawei's increasing pool of local talent.
In her speech welcoming the participants, Huawei Philippines Human Resources Director Jade Cao said Huawei aims to develop Filipino ICT talent and train them in global standards to make the local talent ecosystem more glorious. Noting that Mapua remains to be the top source for Huawei engineers, Cao said, "We believe in collaboration and long-term partnership with Mapua. In the past, a lot of Mapua fresh graduates joined Huawei and already became the key staff of Huawei and fulfilling the vision and mission of Huawei."
The partnership between Mapua University and Huawei Philippines began in 2015 with the Huawei Seeds For The Future program. Since then, the global mobile and technology brand has launched several successful programs and events including the Huawei ICT Academy, Huawei ICT Competition and Huawei Sales Elite Challenge in 2019. In 2020, Huawei opened its scholarship program to Mapua students. Graduates from Mapua University who currently work at Huawei Philippines are hoping that more Mapuans will take advantage of the chance to work at Huawei and obtain personal knowledge in the field of study.
The career fair at Mapua University was the first of a series of Huawei Philippines' online campus recruitment activities held last May. It was first taken place at the University of the Philippines last April 22nd and at De La Salle University on April 28th. Another online recruitment activity is slated to be held this year and will be announced exclusively at the official Facebook page of Huawei Philippines. Graduates from other universities can join and submit their resumes online via e-mail. Announced at the event are the following job openings: wireless engineer, datacom engineer, fixed network engineer, procurement engineer, supply chain engineer, maintenance engineer, software engineer, civil engineer, RF engineer, electrical engineer, project controller, finance specialist, account specialist, account manager, public relations manager and sales specialist.
