Sports enthusiasts in Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao are in for a treat as GMA Regional TV (RTV), the regional arm of the Philippines' largest broadcasting network GMA Network Inc., launched its original sports segment "Sports Synergy" seen on all its afternoon regional newscasts and hosted by no less than Martin Javier. Regarded as one of the best sports commentators, anchors and hosts of today's generation, Martin was the main host of the NCAA Season 96 primer "Rise Up Stronger: The Road To NCAA Season 96" and the recently concluded "Rise Up Stronger: NCAA Season 96" along with fellow GMA Artist Center talent Sophia Senoron.
In "Sports Synergy", Martin gets to talk to various sports personalities whom viewers are definitely curious about - from legends sharing their inspiring sports journeys to athletes showing their preparations for upcoming competitions. Sports aficionados in the regions are indeed in for a treat with the new sports segment, and Martin expressed how thankful he is for the new project. He shared, "I feel grateful to be given this opportunity. One of the main missions of introducing sports programs in GMA is to provide platforms where we can share inspiring stories of our athletes. I am ecstatic to be able to continue that mission through this special segment. In addition, I am also excited to bring our star athletes closer to the Filipinos. It's always fulfilling to celebrate their success while highlighting their roots and humble beginnings in the places that gave them a start. Sports fans can expect the same level of energy and enthusiasm. I see it as an opportunity to give light to the different sides of an athlete's journey. Our Kapuso fans will see the same fun-loving host, bringing life to a unique sports execution in the news broadcast."
"Sports Synergy" is broadcast as part of GMA RTV's award-winning and top-rating afternoon regional newscasts GMA Regional TV Balitang Amianan (North and Central Luzon), GMA Regional TV Balitang Bisdak (Central and Eastern Visayas), GMA Regional TV One Western Visayas (Western Visayas), GMA Regional TV One Mindanao (South Central, Western and Southern Mindanao) and GMA Regional TV Balitang Bicolandia (Bicol Region) airing every Monday to Friday at 5:00 pm on GMA RTV stations nationwide and of GMA Regional TV News weekdays at 9:00 am and Saturdays at 10:00 am on GTV. “During these challenging times, we have seen how Filipinos' passion and support for sports did not waver. The launch of "Sports Synergy" comes on the heels of the highly successful mounting of NCAA Season 96 on its new home GMA Network. "Rise Up Stronger: NCAA Season 96" showcased the remarkable resilience of Filipinos with the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) becoming the first collegiate athletic league in the Philippines to safely hold a sports tournament amidst the threat of the COVID-19 pandemic. "Rise Up Stronger: NCAA Season 96" re-airs every Monday to Friday at 8:45 pm on DepEd TV in cooperation with GMA Network and can be viewed on-demand on NCAA Philippines' official YouTube channel.
