ABS-CBN, the premiere media and entertainment company in the Philippines and the country’s leading content provider, continues its global march in 2022 with more of its popular programs reaching foreign audiences, including “Bagong Umaga” (New Beginnings)and “Asintado” in African territories and “La Vida Lena” (Maya Galeisar) and “Huwag Kang Mangamba” (Sann Kyae Thaww Kan Kyamar) in Myanmar.
“Bagong Umaga,” known internationally as “New Beginnings,” is the latest ABS-CBN show airing in over 41 African countries, including Kenya, Ghana, and Madagascar via the StarTimes channel. Heaven Peralejo, Tony Labrusca, Barbie Imperial, Michelle Vito, Yves Flores andb Kiko Estrada star in the show that chronicles the struggles of six strong-willed individuals with love and family. Also making waves in the African French-speaking region is the action-drama series “Asintado” starring Julia Montes, Shaina Magdayao, Aljur Abrenica and Paulo Avelino which revolves around the opposite lives of siblings Juliana (Montes) and Samantha (Magdayao) after being separated at a young age. Following positive reviews and good ratings in La RĂ©union via ART for its French-dubbed version, the show also began airing in one of Ivory Coast’s best-known French language channels, RTI 2.
More Kapamilya shows are also being aired in Myanmar, with its recently concluded primetime series “La Vida Lena” (Maya Galeisar”) premiering last January 31 on Fortune TV. Starring Erich Gonzales, JC de Vera, Kit Thompson, Carlo Aquino, Sofia Andres, Agot Isidro, Janice de Belen and Raymond Bagatsing, “La Vida Lena” follows the story of Magda/Lena (Gonzales), a scarred woman up for vengeance as she seeks revenge against a prominent clan who have wronged her family. Meanwhile, the hit inspirational series “Huwag Kang Mangamba” (Sann Kyae Thaww Kan Kyamar) made its final run on Fortune TV after debuting in November 2021. Headlined by Gold Squad members Andrea Brillantes, Francine Diaz, Kyle Echarri< and Seth Fedelin, the show highlights the mission of four teenagers intertwined by fate to restore faith in God to the residents of a small town named Hermoso.
