For the first time in the Philippines, ABS-CBN, the country’s leading content provider and premiere media and entertainment company, announced its partnership with YouTube to develop and produce a new original series that will stream exclusively on the video streaming platform. “How to Move On in 30 Days,” a romantic-comedy featuring the fresh team-up of Maris Racal and Carlo Aquino, will premiere on YouTube this 2022.

The co-production deal is the latest initiative of ABS-CBN to expand its digital content offerings and reach more audiences on YouTube with the goal of serving more Filipinos on various platforms. ABS-CBN has been streaming its live and on-demand shows via Kapamilya Online Live on YouTube. It also offers “Made for YouTube” entertainment, lifestyle, and music shows, and ABS-CBN Superview which offers free streaming of hit movies. Google To Protect Election-Related Websites And Individuals From Cyberattacks

Google will be providing extra protection against online threats to at-risk organizations and individuals during the upcoming 2022 Philippine elections.

Google is inviting Philippine human rights, elections monitoring, and media organizations as well as individual journalists to apply to Project Shield. Project Shield, created by Jigsaw and Google, provides free unlimited protection against DDoS (Distributed Denial of Service) attacks, a type of digital attack used to censor information by taking websites offline. Project Shield filters out malicious traffic using Google’s infrastructure and DDoS tools. If a website is targeted by a DDoS attack, Google’s servers will block attacking traffic to keep the website up and running.

Google's Advanced Protection Program (APP) is designed to help protect policy makers, candidates, campaign teams, journalists, and activists from cyberattacks. Ahead of the Philippine Elections, Google is offering to enroll these individuals into APP in order for them to be protected against a wide variety of online threats, including sophisticated phishing attacks, malware and other malicious downloads on Chrome and Android, and unauthorized access to their personal account data (such as GMail, Drive or Photos). As new threats are discovered, APP evolves to provide the latest protections. APP brings Google’s strongest security protections together into a holistic program that is constantly upgraded in response to emerging threats.

Cignal Connect Provides Satellite Broadband For Typhoon Odette Relief Efforts

Typhoon Odette displaced more than one million families as it swept through Southern Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao last December 16, 2021. While humanitarian and relief operations are ongoing, many families are still left without connectivity as cell towers and fiber cables are being repaired and restored. Cignal understands the importance of internet connectivity in helping these families communicate with loved ones and start their recovery and rebuilding journey.

Thus, Cignal’s Satellite Broadband Service Cignal Connect in cooperation with its generous partners — satellite provider KTSAT and PLDT, and Cignal Territory Partners CRFT, Save and Earn, Cellcom, and Digilife — will provide free connectivity to 5 sites located in Puerto Princesa City, Palawan; Tagbilaran City, Bohol; Maasin City, Southern Leyte; and Dinagat Islands. “We are extremely grateful for the support of all our partners in helping us provide free internet access to communities devastated by Typhoon Odette. Communication is essential at this stage of their recovery efforts, and Cignal Connect is happy to be of service through our satellite broadband as the people in these communities start to rebuild their lives,” said Cignal President and CEO Robert P. Galang.

While other forms of communication have yet to be restored in the typhoon-affected areas, Cignal Connect has been steadily providing internet access to affected families and communities with the help of its satellite broadband technology and will continue to do so in the coming weeks as the need arises. San Rafael, Puerto Princesa City, Palawan. Cignal, using its VSAT technology, was also able to extend support for SMART’s disaster recovery efforts in Palawan, Surigao, and Siargao.

“Cattleya Killer,” ABS-CBN’s new international project starring 2020 Asian Academy Creative Awards Best Actor Arjo Atayde, introduces a stellar ensemble that will make world-class Filipino talent shine brighter on the world stage. Joining Arjo in the thriller series set for international release are critically acclaimed artists Christopher de Leon, Jake Cuenca, Jane Oineza, Ricky Davao, Nonie Buencamino, Ria Atayde, Ketchup Eusebio, Frances Makil, Rafa Siguion-Reyna, Jojit Lorenzo, and Zsa Zsa Padilla. Arjo couldn’t help but gush about his co-actors saying, “It’s such a beautiful cast. I’m so happy to see everyone on board. I don’t need to explain further, but I’m just excited. Remember that I’m just one of the actors for this series and we’re going to do this together,” during the virtual story conference held recently.

Meanwhile, ABS-CBN International Production and Co-Production Division head Ruel S. Bayani also said that the team is lucky to have Christopher on board as he was part of the cast of the 1996 Star Cinema movie “Sa Aking Mga Kamay,” where “Cattleya Killer” was adapted from. “We’re lucky that Boyet [Christopher] is here to join us dahil to me, wala ng mas inspiring pa to have Boyet on our set. To know na may nagdudugtong from the movie to this series, at sa bagong creative energy natin sa pagku-kwento nito.” “We’re also joined by the most professional, most talented, and most creative people in the industry,” Direk Ruel added.

Directed by Dan Villegas, written by Dodo Dayao and executive produced by Ruel S. Bayani, “Cattleya Killer” will start production this February 2022 and will be released for international audiences as ABS-CBN continues its global march. The country’s leading content provider, ABS-CBN continues to forge new partnerships to promote Filipino stories and talent all over the world. “Cattleya Killer” follows “Almost Paradise,” the first American TV series filmed entirely in the Philippines, which ABS-CBN co-produced with Hollywood’s Electric Entertainment.
