Home Credit Philippines (HCPH), the country’s leading consumer finance provider, declares its support for the bemedaled national eSports team SIBOL in the 31st Southeast Asian Games taking place in Hanoi, Vietnam from May 13 to 22, 2022. Committed to empowering every Filipino and filling the gaps to enrich their lives, HCPH hopes this initiative will also further highlight the positive opportunities for eSports in the country and encourage and hone the skills of young Filipinos in this area.
SIBOL, which debuted in 2019, dominated the SEA Games eSports categories that year in Mobile Legends, DOTA 2 and Hearthstone, and secured silver and bronze in Tekken 7 for the Philippines. This year’s SEA Games will have 10 eSports events comprising of Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB), Arena of Valor (AoV), FIFA Online 4, League of Legends (LoL), League of Legends: Wild Rift men’s and women’s, CrossFire, PUBG Mobile individual and team, and Garena Free Fire. “With overwhelming support from Home Credit, we will work hard to bring home more gold for the Philippines. Despite many challenges and with some of the games not yet as big nor supported in our country, we remain steadfast in our goals and will give it our 100 percent to be champions for the Filipino people,” says Team SIBOL President Brian Lim. De La Salle Lipa (DLSL) offers BS Entertainment and Multimedia Computing (EMC), a program under the College of Information Technology and Engineering (CITE) starting School Year 2022-2023. Entertainment and Multimedia Computing is the study and use of concepts, principles, and techniques of computing in the design and development of multimedia products and solutions. It includes various applications in science, entertainment, education, simulations, and advertising. With two specializations – Game Development and Digital Animation – the said program responds to the demands of the 21st century workplace, equipping students with competencies in game development and 2D and 3D animation.
Career paths for the Game Development specialization include the following: game programmer, technical director, gamified systems developer, game animator, video game designer, graphics programmer, associate business development specialist for entertainment and multimedia industries, associate game quality assurance specialist, game sound engineer, and senior interactive software developer. On the other hand, the Digital Animation specialization career paths include the following: technical animator, 2D/3D animator, multimedia specialist, Flash animator, animation quality assurance specialist, digital 2D/3D animation content producer, digital 2D/3D production designer, ad builders, technical director for game art, web developer, and graphics artist.
DLSL will do more than prepare graduates to handle the professional world. Graduates of the program will also develop a newfound understanding of how entertainment can affect perspectives on various societal issues.
