PLDT and wireless unit Smart Communications, Inc. (Smart) have launched ‘GoCamNorte’, Camarines Norte’s official tourism application, during the annual Bantayog Festival and the province’s celebration of its 102nd founding anniversary. The app is part of Smart's nationwide digital tourism program which taps mobile technology to promote culture, heritage and faith across various parts of the Philippine archipelago.
“Smart continues to empower the communities we serve through our technology-enabled programs. Now that we are slowly opening our doors to visitors, our digital tourism application can help provinces like Camarines Norte share and promote the many wonderful sites to visit, as well as travel guidelines for tourists,” said Smart Communications Assistant Vice President and Head of Community Relations Stephanie Orlino. “This digital innovation gives the public easy access to necessary information about the province. The platform also allows us to push messages quickly for updates,” said Camarines Norte Provincial Tourism Officer Mariano “Bong” Palma.
Developed in collaboration with Smart and InnoPub Media, the ‘GoCamNorte’ app is expected to boost the number of visitors in Bicol region’s northernmost province as travel restrictions are gradually lifted. Tourists and locals alike may now learn more about Camarines Norte’s best destinations and heritage sites even before they visit the province using mobile technology. Another component of the digital tourism app are the interactive markers that provide contactless delivery of information through QR codes. “With the use of smartphones, we can enable safe and contactless delivery of tourism, cultural and historical information, right in the hands of travelers, enhancing their overall experience,” said InnoPub Media Co-Founder Max Limpag.
The GoCamNorte app gives potential tourists a glimpse of what Camarines Norte has to offer – from its powdery sand beaches to hidden gems in the mountains and rich heritage sites. But beyond featuring the province’s tourist spots, the app also links visitors to important government hotlines and accredited tour operators, resorts and accommodations. This gives tourists the assurance that the businesses they patronize have undergone the necessary training so they can offer a safe and memorable experience. The app may be downloaded for free from the Google Play Store or from the Apple App Store.
