After a two-year hiatus due to the negative effects and continuous threat of the COVID-19 pandemic in the Philippines, the intense women's volleyball action featuring the collegiate volleybelles of the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) makes its long-awaited return last May 5, 2022 in line with pandemic preventive measures implemented for a safe and successful UAAP Season 84 Women's Volleyball Tournament.

“The UAAP is glad to have women’s volleyball back in Season 84. The tournament was cut short in Season 82 at the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic which means we have not had a champion in three years. Since then, the players and supporters have been yearning for one of the most popular events in the UAAP calendar. The UAAP has witnessed so many thrilling matches in women’s volleyball – played in packed venues – in the past few years and we can expect more of that as our players go all out every game representing their schools with pride and honor.” shared UAAP Executive Director Atty. Rebo Saguisag. With most of the marquee names already graduating and turning pro, the volleyball community is teeming with excitement to see fresh stars and new blood playing in the UAAP from the league's member universities – Ateneo De Manila University, De La Salle University, University Of Sto. Tomas, Far Eastern University, National University, University Of The Philippines, Adamson University, University Of The East – this season.

UAAP Season 84 Women's Volleyball games are held every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday inside the SM Mall of Asia (MOA) Arena with audiences allowed to watch the games live and in person. UAAP and volleyball fans can catch the live games on One Sports (analog free TV channel 41, digital free TV 497.143/695.143, SKYcable channel 59, Cignal channel 6), UAAP Varsity Channel (Cignal channel 263), Cignal Play and Smart GigaPlay (with no data charges applied). “We are all set to provide the most extensive and reliable coverage for this highly anticipated UAAP women’s volleyball event. Cignal brings the games via the dedicated UAAP Varsity Channel as well as through One Sports and Cignal Play, to give volleyball fans the best viewing experience at their own convenience. This is going to be an intensified season, and we feel the energy and anticipation from the volleyball community. We at Cignal are honored to bring the UAAP Women’s Volleyball action as it happens, where it happens,” said Cignal President and CEO Robert P. Galang.
