On the other hand, Aaron Obra and Arron Rebustes – who interestingly have very similar names – are quite new to the scene, but the future is stark for both. Humbled by their slow but consistent growth on their respective crafts, they are building a loyal fanbase who is proud to have witnessed everything from the start. These four young artists are breathing new life into OPM, and they want you to listen and stay tuned.
Drei Raña Showcases His Original Songs on PolyEast Records’ “The LiVeRARY”
Drei Raña from San Pedro, Laguna has been with PolyEast Records since 2018. Still, he has stayed active in creating covers and sharing them on his YouTube channel which currently has almost 100,000 subscribers and Facebook page with 809,000 followers where he was initially discovered. He has recently been appealing to more audiences by venturing into TikTok. Of course, he has been able to release his original songs through those years, most of which he showcased in his recently released “The LiVeRARY” performance. With no frills, taking on that old school feel by doing it live and real, Drei showcases his talent and musicianship.
In no particular order, he sings “Ligaya, “In My Dreams”, “Alaala”, “Walang Labis Walang Kulang”, “Tiempo”, and “SSKM” (Sa Susunod Kong Mamahalin)”. He also performs his latest release “Wag Mong Paasahin”. He then covers “Magbalik” by Callalily and the old classic “Bakit Ba Ganyan”, popularized by Dina Bonnevie. For the collaboration piece, he shares the stage with Selena Marie – our very own Ukulele Girl – to sing their song “Kaibigan / Magkaibigan”. You can find all these songs by Drei on digital music streaming platforms.
Selena Marie Takes on Her Own Version of The Boyfriends’ “First Love Never Dies”
Selena Marie, dubbed as the “Ukulele Girl", just released her first single this year. Trying something different, she takes on her own version of “First Love Never Dies”, a song that has already been around for decades. Popularized by one of the most prominent bands of the ‘70s, “First Love Never Dies” is a song by The Boyfriends. As she shared, Selena Marie was initially doubtful about whether she could give justice to the song or not. Still, she felt thankful towards PolyEast Records for giving her the trust and opportunity to breathe new life into the iconic song.
Selena Marie’s “First Love Never Dies” sounds new and a whole lot different from the well-loved original version. However, it has this youthful and contemporary sound that appeals more to the young people of today. This just goes to prove how timeless music is, and how different generations can relate to a significant human experience. Since 2019, Selena Marie has already released singles including “Abakada”, “Pag-asa”, “Kaibigan / Magkaibigan”, “Paano ang Simbang Gabi (Kung ‘Di Ka Katabi)”, “‘Di Sinasadya”, and “Hindi Lang Ikaw”, all under PolyEast Records. All her songs can be found on digital music streaming platforms.
Aaron Obra Serenades Listeners with New Single “Sa ‘Yo”
Aaron Obra, a promising 20-year-old singer-songwriter from Nueva Ecjia, just released another song that will delight his listeners. After dropping his debut single under PolyEast Records titled “Alas Kwatro” in November 2021, the young singer-songwriter is back with a new piece. This time, instead of a heartbreaking ballad, he pours his soul out into a straightforward but passionate love song “Sa ‘Yo". With a light and chill instrumental that gives way to his clear and piercing yet calming vocals, “Sa ‘Yo” is a song that Aaron had a lot of fun writing. He also enjoyed recording the song, trying multiple layers and backing vocals that made the song feel and sound even more heavenly than it initially was. “Sa ‘Yo” is a song best for telling someone you love them and that you’re ready to give your all for that person. Moreover, it is a straightforward love song, something you could add to a personally-curated playlist for your special someone as a sincere confession.
From being discovered by PolyEast Records to getting noticed on TikTok by Ed Sheeran with a duet to “The A Team”, Aaron was nothing but thankful. Currently, his status on the platform has stabilized with a few viral videos here and there, but he’s expecting to reach half a million followers by the end of 2022. Before releasing his songs under a record label, 2021 has been a rollercoaster ride for Aaron. However, he shares what helped him unlock opportunities and cope with everything – making videos and content for his fans on his TikTok which already has 220,000 followers as of now. Through his various experiences, Aaron Obra expresses how much he loves his fans. “I can’t thank them enough for the support they’re giving and the effort they’re making just to be there for me,” he says. He also adds that we can expect more songs like “Alas Kwatro” and “Sa ‘Yo” to accompany us on moments when we need them the most.
Arron Rebustes Drops Debut Single “Quiet Room”
After a series of blessings in his life, the 19-year-old Arron Rebustes from Tondo, Manila made his debut with his original song “Quiet Room". Highly anticipated by fans who have been continuously supporting him all throughout his YouTube career, there’s no denying that Arron felt half-nervous and half-excited for his very first release under his record label PolyEast Records. Although he has no idea how people will receive his song “Quiet Room", he still feels eager to share his craft for the public to hear. Written exactly on March 30, 2021 at midnight, Arron confesses that, “I was feeling a lot of things that night. I am sitting on my bed, playing random chords that would connect to what I’m feeling, and then I wrote this song for about an hour.” Asked about the message of the song, Arron says that “Quiet Room” is about a story of a guy who knows that the love of his life is already falling out of love. Aware of this, the guy just wants to cherish their last moments together, reminiscing about all the love they had for each other.
