It was just last December when a select group of Filipino artists defied the odds to help reboot global live events with a wallop in the Philippines and overseas. This was 1MX in Manila and Dubai, dual concerts held back-to-back online and onstage, which played to sold-out crowds hungry to take back life experiences that they love after two years of pandemic restrictions. Produced by ABS-CBN, the leading global Filipino media and entertainment network, through The Filipino Channel (TFC), ABS-CBN Music, One Music PH and Myx Global with partners, 1MX last December paved the way to a dynamic full season of in-person concerts by top and rising Filipino performers this year.
Come July 30, 2022, Saturday, 1MX continues its ascension to the pinnacle of touring musical events by holding it this time at the Apps Court Farm in London - 82 acres of rolling grasslands transformed into creative events space, and within easy reach of the West End and tourist attractions in the South East, including Hampton Court Palace, Windsor Castle, Chessington World of Adventures, Thorpe Park and Legoland. The stellar cast coming this time to London are Bamboo, KZ Tandingan, EZ Mil, Darren Espanto, with fast-rising next gen talents Sab, Jeremy G, Jon Guelas and Angela Ken. Expect fireworks from these artists whose showmanship, unique voices, energy, and innate musicality promise to reestablish the Filipinos as live world-class musical performers to contend with. Joining the cast from the Philippines are U.K.-based performers that include Jamaican-Filipino rapper Clencha, Irish-Filipino singer-songwriter Tara, regular Westfield Presents performer Clarissa Mae, U.K. Beatbox champion MC Zani.
United Kingdom is home to over 200,000 Filipinos of which 70 percent reside in London. The massive Filipino community in the city has consistently showed up and represented in huge events like the Barrio Fiesta and the "ASAP in London" which drew 10,000 people to The SSE Arena, Wembley in 2015. The Glastonbury in Worthy Farm, Somerset may be the big kahuna among music festivals in U.K. today, but 1MX is fast becoming a true showcase of contemporary Filipino vocal powerhouses in the global music landscape. Add to this a Filipino food festival layer and the 1MX event is guaranteed to be an epic treat. "Audiences have experienced the 1MX brand twice in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Singapore and Manila and embraced it completely. We are bringing 1MX to London this year because we believe Filipinos there are ready and eager to welcome this new cresting wave -- an on-the-verge contemporary Filipino hallyu. The 1MX brand is built on superior musical talent and it will bring its unique stamp with forceful impact everywhere it goes. We promise a fantastic show that will make our kabayan proud and will wow all music lovers," said ABS-CBN Global Head of Events and Managing Director of Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) Arnie Garcia.
