Sony Music Philippines, in partnership with Electric Studio, recently celebrated the return of big, jubilant dance/electronic anthems with an indoor spinning event that offers full-body fitness experience and top-notch music. Pedaling its way with high-performance rides and well-curated jams, the Somebody Like You: Electric Spinning Event featured some of the label’s most prominent club music releases of 2022 as backdrop to an energizing workout. The spinning event took place in Electric Studio, BGC, Taguig City last July 8, 2022 (Friday).
Most notably highlighted during the ‘ultimate sweat session’ is “Somebody Like You,” a critically acclaimed collaboration between Filipina R&B/soul songstress KZ Tandingan and international producers GATTÜSO and Frogmonster. The rousing EDM track recently topped Mixmag Asia’s list of 20 Summer Anthems: Festival Edition, joining the ranks of other dance music heavyweights such as Grimes’ “Shinigami Eyes” and Peggy Gou’s midnight remix of Kylie Minogue’s “Can’t Get You Out Of My Head.” With a collective 1.75 billion streams between them over the last 2 years, the unexpected trio pushes the boundaries of dance music with a truly global collaboration that features two versions: one in English and another one in Mandarin.
Riders also got to experience some songs off The Chainsmokers’ No.1 Billboard Dance/Electronic album, So Far So Good, including the chart-topping hit “High” and new single “The Fall,” featuring fast-rising producer duo Ship Wrek. The Chainsmokers’ fourth studio album received positive reviews from several music critics, with music publication Pitchfork praising the record for “easily” being “their most enjoyable front-to-back listen.” The Somebody Like You: Electric Spinning Event also rounded out an energizing ride that aims to improve one’s stamina and speed, all while blasting Sony Music Philippines’ recent goldmine of rhythmic and dance tunes.

Apps And Love Converge In ANIMA's Romance-Comedy-Drama Film RESET U/I

What if there’s an app that can cure a heartbreak? Can you move on in an instant? ANIMA, KROMA Entertainment Inc.’s film production outfit, merges the world of apps and love in its latest romantic comedy-drama offering “Reset U/I". The movie revolves around an app developer (Alexa Ilacad as Adie) who helps a venture capitalist (Enchong Dee as Geo) get over his ex-girlfriend so she can get her funding. The result: two people trying to forget so they could move on, only to confront and accept the pain, and learn from the past.
“I like how “RESET U/I” is not your typical rom-com drama. ‘Yung story and journey noong dalawang characters ang ganda and how their characters develop as well. Just when I was reading it and not even thinking it was me or it was Enchong, talagang kinikilig ako sa mga lines,” said Ilacad. Enchong shared, “I feel like every actor has a responsibility to their audience. Kailangan mong bigyan ng something new ‘yung audience mo and we’re in the service of making people touch their emotions. So eto na finally makakagawa na tayo ulit ng pelikula na mapapanood sa big screen.” True to ANIMA’s mission to highlight new voices, it looks forward to seeing Ilacad in her first solo-leading role alongside Dee, whose charm and wit had everyone at the storycon swooning.
ANIMA had the film’s story conference, look test and table reading attended by the cast and staff last June 28, 2022. With Dee and Ilacad were Iana Bernardez, Yesh Burce, Nikko Natividad, Lance Reblando and Nikki Valdez. The exciting storyline was written by ANIMA’s former Creative Producer Benedict Mendoza with Director JP Habac tapping to bring the idea to the big screen. “To say that we are very excited for “RESET U/I” would be an understatement to express how ANIMA feels about JP Habac’s newest film with us because we’ve been developing RESET U/I since 2019,” said ANIMA Creative Development Head Kren Yap. After working with Habac in “Gaya sa Pelikula", ANIMA has set several more projects with the young and talented filmmaker.

Lausgroup Eagles Conquers NBA 2KL APAC Steel Open Qualifiers, Eyes US Tourney Next
(Image Source: Business World/Countryside Entertainment Inc.) |
The LausGroup Eagles, one of the country’s premier NBA 2K Leagues sponsored by Countryside Entertainment Inc., reigned supreme in the entire Asia Pacific (APAC) region after recently conquering the NBA 2KL APAC Steal Open Qualifiers sponsored by US-based cryptocurrency exchange Coinbase. In the tournament that featured teams from Korea, Australia, and the Philippines, the team performed in dominating fashion by sweeping their opponents in the second round and earning an impressive 3-1 victory in the finals – pulling in US$2500 as champions.
The team, composed of Isaiah Vincent “LGE_ice” Alindada, Dominic “LGE_Domo” Penaflorida, and Paolo Jerald “LGE_Papa” Madronio, will represent APAC (Asia-Pacific) in the upcoming Coinbase NBA 2KL Steal Open in Indianapolis, Indiana this August where they will be up against 14 NBA 2KL teams and one amateur team from Europe participating in the said tournament. Led by veteran coach Al Timajo and team manager Ian Seranilla, the Eagles are confident that their recent win will serve as a major milestone for online basketball gaming in the Philippines. “The LausGroup Eagles are excited to represent the country and the entire Asia Pacific in the US tournament. This is a huge achievement for the team and we will do our best to continue raising the bar for Philippine esports,” Timajo said.
Paul Laus, President of Countryside Entertainment Inc. and the LausGroup Eagles, shared that this achievement shows that the team is a force to be reckoned with in online basketball not just in the Philippines, but in the whole of APAC. “Based on the APAC qualifiers, our team’s hard work, long hours of training and commitment proved that Filipino e-athletes can go up against the bigger leagues on the global stage. I am really proud of what this team has accomplished, and we look forward to raising the bar of Philippine online basketball for the years to come,” Laus said. Pampanga-based conglomerate Laus Group of Companies (LGC) founded Countryside Entertainment, Inc. in 2015 as the pioneer organizer of NBA 2K Veterans League in the Philippines — the only professional online basketball tournament in the country. CEI organizes online basketball leagues and other games to develop local talents for competitive online sports, as part of its efforts to advance the Philippine eSports industry.
