Starhunt, ABS-CBN's premier grand audition platform, partners with Korean talent management agency MLD Entertainment and Kamp Korea Inc. to discover new talents in search of the next global all-male pop group in "Dream Maker". The latest collaboration of ABS-CBN with foreign groups is part of the company’s international expansion plans as it continues to form strategic partnerships to champion the Filipino talent in the global stage.
ABS-CBN Head of TV Production and Star Magic Head Laurenti Dyogi said, “We are getting serious in getting to the international arena. We are looking at all ways and means to get Filipino artists and Filipino talents to be recognized globally. We are happy to have partners who recognize Filipinos are talented and we can compete globally.” MLD Entertainment CEO Lee Hyoungjin said, “It's a natural mix between ABS-CBN, MLD, and Kamp. Because ABS-CBN has the infrastructure, resources, and history in the Filipino market, combined with MLD Entertainment's K-Pop know-how and Kamp Global's global network know-how, it was quite a natural combination." He also believed that Pinoy pop may become the next global phenomenon. With this partnership, he is confident that they will discover fresh faces that may soon conquer the international music scene. "I have seen so much talent in the P-pop side and just girls and boys who love to sing and dance. As K-Pop has become a global phenomenon, I believe that P-pop is the next," he added.
"Dream Maker", the newest idol survival competition show, is about to make dreams come true for seven aspiring male singers and performers who will have the chance to debut in Korea. Kamp Korea Inc. CEO Tim Kim shared what qualities they were looking for in the competition. He said, "The X-factor and talent are definitely something we're looking for. More importantly, we are looking for a P-pop group, but we're looking for a global group. A global mindset and being a global citizen is another factor that we're looking for." Winners of "Dream Maker" will also be under the guidance and tutelage of established Korean idols and mentors who will personally train them as well as world-class Filipino mentors.
