On The Radar: ABS-CBN Bags 16 National Honors At 2022 Asian Academy Creative Awards

ABS-CBN Corporation, the premiere media and entertainment company in the Philippines and the country’s leading content provider, bagged 16 national honors at the 2022 Asian Academy Creative Awards (AAA) which will be representing the Filipino nation in the regional awards in Singapore on December 8, 2022. The 16 programs and personalities of ABS-CBN will be up against national winners from other countries in the Asia Pacific region including current Best Entertainment Host Vice Ganda who is nominated again in the same category.

“The Broken Marriage Vow” claimed six national winner titles with Jodi Sta. Maria as the national winner for Best Leading Actress and Zaijan Jaranilla as the Best Actor in a Supporting Role. The hit series was also named national winner for Best Adaptation of An Existing Format, Best Promo or Trailer, Best Editing (Rommel Malimban), and Best Theme Song or Title Theme (“Gusto Ko Nang Bumitaw” by Morissette). “It’s Showtime” also clinched the Best General Entertainment, Game, or Quiz Programme and Best Direction (Jon Moll). Four ABS-CBN programs also won in their respective categories including “KBYN: Kaagapay ng Bayan” (Best Current Affairs Programme or Series); “ASAP Natin ‘To” (Best Music or Dance Programme); “Maalaala Mo Kaya - Beauty Behind Bars Episode” (Best Single Drama or Telemovie/Anthology Episode); and Metro Channel’s “The Crawl Singapore” (Best Lifestyle Programme).

Kapamilya artists also emerged at the top as they clinched their national winner titles including “Viral Scandal’s” Dimples Romana (Best Actress in a Supporting Role) and “My Papa Pi’s” Pepe Herrera (Best Comedy Performance). Meanwhile, ABS-CBN Film’s “Kun Maupay Man It Panahon ("Whether The Weather Is Fine") took the award for Best Feature Film.

ABS-CBN News Chief Ging Reyes Is WAN-IFRA's 2022 Southeast Asia Laureate For Women In News Editorial Leadership

ABS-CBN News Chief Regina “Ging” Reyes has been recognized for her outstanding work as a news leader by the World Association of News Publishers (WAN-IFRA) during the 2022 World News Media Congress in Zaragoza, Spain. Ging was named as the 2022 Southeast Asia Laureate for Women in News Editorial Leadership, which recognizes “the exemplary contribution of a leader to her newsroom, and under her leadership, her media organization’s contribution to society.”

In her acceptance speech, Ging paid tribute to her colleagues in ABS-CBN News and highlighted the importance of press freedom. “I am deeply moved and humbled to receive this recognition on behalf of my entire news team, especially the women in our newsroom and in the field. They are at the forefront of our battle to defend media freedom in our country and preserve the values of our profession. And I am only here because of their collective hard work and sacrifice,” she said.

Ging is the longest-serving news chief of ABS-CBN News. Before holding the post, she served as the company's North America Bureau chief from 2022 until 2010. She started her career in ABS-CBN as a production assistant and climbed the ranks, eventually becoming the executive producer of "The World Tonight," the country's longest running newscast. Under Ging’s leadership, ABS-CBN News shifted to digital and it began its multiplatform reporting. She also mentored many news producers and journalists. WAN-IFRA names one exceptional editorial leader from Southeast Asia, Africa, and the Arab Region annually. It aims to uphold the rights of journalists worldwide. WAN-IFRA members come from different news organizations from 120 countries.

Global Girl Group LAPILLUS Stuns In First-Ever Digital Magazine Cover Via Metro.Style

The members of this global girl group 一 Shana, Yue, Chanty, Bessie, Seowon, and Haeun 一 are on fire, as they "hit ya" with their sultry and edgy visuals on the top fashion and lifestyle platform's digital cover. Fresh from their successful two-week "HIT YA Pilipinas: Lapillus In Manila" tour, MLD Entertainment's fast-rising rookie K-Pop girl group made a comeback via their first mini album “GIRL’s Round Part. 1" featuring the title track "GRATATA". This milestone comes just a few months after they debuted in the music scene with the buzzworthy digital single "HIT YA" last June. 

With their accomplishments thus far, the future proves to be bright for this group, as they lift their fans' spirit through their music. But not only are the girls of LAPILLUS talented, they serve visuals, too, as seen in this exclusive Metro.Style editorial that marks their first-ever digital magazine cover feature. For this photo shoot, they wore ensembles by Filipino fashion designers and brands. This cover was photographed by Ria Regino, with creative  direction by Chookie Cruz. The shoot was executed under the supervision of Metro editors Geolette Esguerra, Kate Paras-Santiago, and Grace Libero-Cruz, with the help of managing editor Red Dimaandal. Lapillus’ glam team was composed of makeup artist Yuna Choi, hair stylist Kyounghwa Woo, and fashion stylist Yezi Kim. The styling team of Myrrh Lao To 一 which includes Mack Bersalona, Josh Galang, and Mai Chua 一 put together the wardrobe. CJ Reyes and Bria Cardenas were in charge of the video executions while writers Janelle Roa Cabrera-Paraiso and Mariel Abanes did the interviews. The shoot was held at Collab in Sheraton Manila.

FITE To Deliver COVID-Delayed Rugby League World Cup To Larger Global Audience

The Rugby League World Cup's COVID-delayed 2021 event will be seen by more people around the world via FITE than any other platform, thanks to Integrated Sports Media (ISM) and RDA Sports Media Rights and their trust in FITE to handle largest share of the globe. The pinnacle event of the Rugby League, globally contested every four years, and RLWC 2021 will be a breakthrough moment in the tournament's history with the men's, women's and wheelchair competitions being staged together for the first time.

FITE will present the men's, women's and wheelchair events live in the United States and more territories on more continents than any other carrier or platform.
