Armie Sayno has been working as a domestic helper in Hong Kong for over nine years now. She is a mom to three children, which made it a tough decision for her to work abroad. Armie said she wants to be by their side, especially in their growing years, but she had to make the difficult decision to provide for their needs. Her dream is for her children to finish their studies in hopes of a better future. Like many other Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs), Armie has missed several important occasions back home.
She shares, “mahirap maging isang OFW pero kailangang tiisin lalo na kapag maraming mga okasyon, lalo na kapag may birthday ang mga anak, lalo na kapag Christmas. Malungkot kasi hindi ko sila nakakasama sa mga special occasions, inaabala ko na lang ang sarili ko sa loob ng bahay para hindi maalala ang mga anak ko. (It’s difficult to be an OFW, but I need to endure and power through especially when I miss my children’s birthday and Christmas celebrations. It’s sad because I don’t get to be with them during these important milestones, so I just keep myself busy at work to deal with the sadness.)"
