Philippine broadcast media giant GMA Network begins 2023 with another big milestone after receiving a grant to produce a mini-anthology from the National Council for Children's Television (NCCT) - the first one in its 72-year history. The Kapuso Network, the true home of award-winning and child-friendly shows, has produced stellar programs which are not only popular but also received numerous nominations and recognitions here and abroad such as Amazing Earth, Daig Kayo Ng Lola Ko, iBilib, and Pepito Manaloto: Tuloy Ang Kuwento just to name a few.
And now, through the NCCT's National Endowment Fund for Children's Television (NEFCTV), GMA will produce the show entitled 'Ok Ako' (Tales from the not so okays), an advocacy and narrative mini anthology which will feature the struggles of the youth today and how it affects their mental health. Aside from the Kapuso Network, the other grantees of the NEFCTV 2022 Grants program include the Center for the Prevention and Treatment of Child Sexual Abuse Inc. (CPTCSA), Tanghalang Pilipino Foundation Inc., and the LoveLife Project for Health and Environment Inc. In the virtual Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) Signing ceremony held last December 2022, NCCT Executive Director III Ms. Desideria Mance Atienza shared the purpose of this initiative. “This aims to give grants to qualified proponents in fulfillment of its mandate to promote high standards of indigenous and local program development in children's television in media.”
Atienza continued, “Specifically, intended for Filipino children… Through the National Endowment Fund for Children's Television or the NEFCTV, the NCCT shall be able to promote the production and broadcast of high-quality television programs. It will contribute to the development of media content that gives rise to Filipino children's awareness and appreciation for their cultural identity, national heritage, and social issues.” The NCCT was created pursuant to Republic Act No. 8370 or the "Children's Television Act of 1997" to promote and encourage the production and broadcasting of developmentally appropriate television programs for children.

Dubbed as “Drag Pop Misis", Viñas Deluxe is the latest drag queen-turned-recording artist to sign with Tarsier Records. The ‘pambansang bunganga’ of Drag Race Philippines is set to launch a series of music releases under the ABS-CBN record label following another drag queen, Marina Summers, who dropped her song “Divine” last November. Tarsier Records looks forward to pave the way for the drag pop genre in the Philippines spearheaded by Marina and Viñas, sharing their talent as music artists.
“This year, one of our hopes for the label is to champion drag pop not just as a genre, but as a movement, in collaboration with these multi-talented queens,” Tarsier Records label head Marey Garcia excitedly shared. Viñas is equally thrilled to start the New Year by embarking on her music career. “This is the beginning, signing into ABS CBN Music through Tarsier Records is a very big step sa aking music career. Soon, makikita niyo po akong magrelease ng singles,” she teased. The new member of the Tarsier Records family also shared that being a singer has been a childhood dream. “Bata pa lang ako want ko ng gumawa ng song. Frustrated ako dahil hindi ako marunong ng instrument at sumulat. Now na may tumulong sakin, sobrang nafulfill ng childhood dream na iyon. Doon ko narealize na hindi ko need gawin lahat, need ko lang ng tamang tao na tutulong sakin," she narrated.
Viñas recently released a sexy, fun, and confident remake of the 80s hit “I’m Feeling Sexy Tonight", now available worldwide on digital music streaming platforms. “I found this track very empowering dahil kahit ano man ang aking shape at itsura, if you feel sexy, magiging sexy ka because no matter how I look, if I feel sexy, I will be sexy. It’s all about confidence. Gusto kong impart sa mga nakakarining na may lalim yung song na ito,” she said.
