Familia Home Makeover
Inspired by the HGTV show “Fixer Upper”, real life couple Federico Moreno – son of the late legendary impresario German “Kuya Germs” Moreno, a businessman and currently a board member of the Philippine Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) – and former award-winning child star, also a businesswoman and film producer Harlene Bautista, thought of coming up with a video blog where their team grants a dream home renovation to deserving people and their families. That show is “Familia Home Makeover” which Moreno and Bautista host. The show aims to spread #BayanihanRevolution where Ninongs and Ninangs (sponsors), Ates and Kuyas (construction folks, suppliers and the like), and the whole community come together to grant a new home (and a new life) to someone deserving. “Familia Home Makeover” airs on TFC every Sunday. Leading broadcast company GMA Network was recognized for its anti-piracy efforts at the 2023 Gawad Yamang Isip Awards and Fashion Night held last April 26, 2023. The citation was given in recognition of the Network’s contribution to the successful implementation of various anti-piracy initiatives including the anti-piracy symposium last March with the theme “Disrupting the Piracy Ecosystem and Protecting Legal Services" as well as the anti-piracy videos featuring Kapuso Primetime Princess Barbie Forteza and the lead cast of the hit live-action adaptation Voltes V: Legacy, among other campaigns.
The Kapuso Network has been at the forefront of the fight against piracy in the Philippines and its partnership with the Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines (IPOPHL) has been instrumental in raising public awareness about the issue. “We are grateful for this recognition, and we are proud to be a partner of IPOPHL in its efforts to combat piracy. For its innovative and visually stunning graphics, GMA News Online’s “Eleksyon 2022” makes it as a finalist at the prestigious Society of Publishers in Asia (SOPA) Awards for Editorial Excellence 2023.The “Eleksyon 2022” graphics have been recognized under the Information Graphics (Regional/Local) category. The “Eleksyon 2022” website was developed by GMA New Media, Inc. (GMA NMI) specifically for the Philippine national elections last year. It featured three separate apps with visually captivating graphics that enhanced the user experience and made election-related information easier to understand.
The said website gave users a step-by-step approach to information dissemination starting with the Voters' Profile which allowed the public to explore and analyze the voting power of each region by gender, age group, and civil status. This was followed by Stand on Issues, created in collaboration with the expertise of GMA News Research, which gave the voters information on the candidate's positions on key issues at a glance. Finally, the website culminated in the visually appealing Eleksyon Results that showcased real-time information on the national elections. With these apps, social media users highly praised the “Eleksyon 2022” website for its comprehensive coverage of the national polls, consolidating vast amounts of information on a single platform.
The SOPA recognition is a testament to GMA News Online's commitment to providing quality journalism and accurate, timely, and informative news to Kapuso viewers.
