Not too many people know that some celebrities long to live a quiet life outside of the glamor and limelight. Some dream of enjoying the solace of a farm where they can raise animals and harvest fresh produce that they planted themselves. One such celebrity is the illustrious Bea Alonzo, who bought a farm in Zambales in 2011 that grows mango trees and raises cattle and poultry. It is the love of their farm that the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) has chosen Bea Alonzo as their Celebrity Endorser for the upcoming 2022 Census of Agriculture and Fisheries (2022 CAF).
On picking Bea Alonzo as the official celebrity endorser of 2022 CAF, PSA Deputy National Statistician Minerva Eloisa Esquivias says, “We are delighted to welcome Bea Alonzo as our celebrity endorser for the 2022 Census of Agriculture and Fisheries. Apart from being one of the most sought-after celebrities in the country, she wholeheartedly champions sustainable farming, evident in her ownership of an organic farm in Zambales which also serves as a haven for her and her family.” The 2022 Census of Agriculture and Fisheries will be the seventh of a series of decennial agricultural censuses and the sixth of the decennial census of fisheries in the country since 1903. The Philippine Statistics Authority is the government office tasked to collect and compile basic information on the agricultural and fishery sectors in the Philippines. The importance of this undertaking by PA couldn’t be more emphasized as updated information on agriculture and fisheries shall enable economic development planners to respond to the challenges and opportunities in these sectors for our country to grow and prosper.
The conduct of the 2022 CAF officially starts on September 4, 2023. PSA will deploy 15,841 enumerators and 5,430 census supervisors nationwide to conduct a census on agriculture and fishery households, agriculture operators, aquaculture operators, fishery operators, and barangay officials. Using Computer Assisted Personal Interviews (CAPI), these enumerators or data collectors will gather data that will provide our government executives and policymakers a basis for formulation of programs and policies for betterment of the situation of the agriculture and fisheries sectors in the country.
This year, PSA is pleased to have the endorsement of Bea Alonzo who will grace the commercial ad for the 2022 CAF. With this collaboration, one of GMA Network's premier stars and among the most sought-after television and film actresses in the Philippines today has officially become a “CAFarmer", lending her support to promote and celebrate this important cause. Everyone from the agriculture and fishery sectors is encouraged to participate in the coming census as the tagline of 2022 CAF says, “CAFarmer, CAFisher, Tayo ang Bida!“
