OPM hitmaker Moira Dela Torre bares her emotions in a conversation about self-love, finding herself again, and starting anew in her first fashion magazine solo cover feature on Metro.Style. She is marking her 10-year milestone since her “The Voice Philippines” stint, breezing through the borders of the world with her first world tour, and racking up records both locally and beyond. After braving through many storms, this is the first time she has spoken in public.
“There was something about this past year that just changed and I thought the change was going to look different but it was actually a change that wasn’t so bad,” she opened up during her one-on-one interview with Metro.Style. She may have topped more charts in her lifetime than the years in her life combined, but she has always been the reserved type. “I’ve always been shy, even now. I’ve always been an introvert and I think my confidence never really came out until this tour,” Moira revealed.
With almost 5 million active monthly listeners and more or less 10 million followers on Spotify and hits like “Tagpuan", “Paubaya" and “Ikaw at Ako” under her belt, Moira is undoubtedly making an impact as an artist. Her heartbreaking tunes heeded the people’s collective pain, and in turn, she was tagged as the “Hugot Queen” of today’s time. When asked what she feels about the moniker, she said, “It was never my goal to be ‘Hugot Queen’ so I’m not very affected by it. I just want to write. I just want to express. I just want to make music.”

Over 2,000 families from different towns in Ilocos Sur and Cagayan received relief from ABS-CBN Foundation to help them recover from the damages brought by typhoons Egay and Falcon. The heavy rains displaced families in the two regions and affected their livelihood but, with the generosity of donors, ABS-CBN Foundation Sagip Kapamilya was able to give relief packs to families living in barangays Casitan and Batangan in Gonzaga, Cagayan and barangays Simayung and Sirit in Abulug.

In Ilocos Sur, the Foundation also served residents affected by massive flooding with food packs including those living in the towns of San Ildefonso, San Pablo, Santo Domingo, and Bantay. In an interview with “TV Patrol", Ilocos Sur provincial administrator Marlon Tagorda said the towns that ABS-CBN Foundation reached were submerged by the flood. “They are really devastated and they were directly hit by the typhoon so lahat ng mga pinuntahan natin lubog,” he said.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (TMNT): Mutant Mayhem, directed by Jeff Rowe (The Mitchells vs. the Machines) and co-written by actor Seth Rogen, exceeded expectations and took in $43 million at the U.S. box office on its first five days, an impressive feat for the $70 million production. The film has also opened in a few international markets, earning a global total of $51.3 million. In the Philippines, Mutant Mayhem opens in local cinemas on August 23 under Columbia Pictures.
The animated feature, which has been well-received by critics and moviegoers alike, currently has a 96% fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes and a stellar A CinemaScore from audiences. “We’re over the moon with this opening.
