On The Radar: Seniors In Cebu Take Part In PLDT, Smart And PNPh's Digital Literacy And Mental Health Awareness Training

PLDT Inc. and its wireless arm Smart Communications, Inc. (Smart) have partnered with the local government units (LGUs) of Cebu City and Lapu-Lapu City and Passerelles numériques Philippines (PNPh) in upskilling over 200 senior citizens on basic smartphone usage, internet safety, and mental health awareness. “We see these training sessions as a way to include and empower our senior citizens in knowing how to navigate the path toward modernization. At PLDT and Smart, we not only seek to continuously innovate our services, but we also work to guide our senior citizens, who are among our most vulnerable customers. This is also one of our ways to ensure that no one gets left behind in an increasingly digital world,” said PLDT and Smart Stakeholder Management Visayas Relations Head Marylou Gocotano.

Further, over 100 student scholars from PNPh have participated in the training to guide senior participants on digital literacy, covering topics on basic parts of smartphones, social media applications, surfing the internet through search engines, cybersecurity, and identity theft. “Thank you PLDT and Smart for organizing this initiative for our senior citizens in Lapu-Lapu City. We are lucky that we are not the only ones caring for our senior citizens, but we also have private institutions like PLDT, Smart, and PNPh that have programs that will enable them to adapt and make use of digital technologies today,” said Lapu-Lapu City Mayor Junard “Ahong” Chan. “Our senior citizens have already adjusted to the modern world and teaching them how to use modern devices such as smartphones will prevent them from being easily scammed. Thank you PLDT, Smart, and PNPh for partnering with Cebu City LGU for such a wonderful advocacy,” said Atty. Paolo Manit of Cebu City's Office of Senior Citizen Affairs (OSCA).

This initiative to equip seniors with digital literacy and internet safety training to improve their quality of life, and to underscore the importance of mental health in today’s digital age through its Better Today PH platform, are aligned with the group’s digital inclusion and digital wellness thrusts. It also helps underscore the PLDT Group’s commitment to assist in the government’s key digitalization efforts. The PLDT Group is a founding member of the Digital Infrastructure pillar of the presidential Private Sector Advisory Council or PSAC.

GMA Network Is Most Viewed PH Entertainment Account On TikTok

Media giant GMA Network continues its supremacy across digital platforms with its official TikTok account @gmanetwork generating the most content views among top entertainment creators in the Philippines for the month of July 2023. Based on data from TikToktainment, @gmanetwork placed first among other entertainment creators in terms of total content views, tallying a total of 298.3 million views. The Network’s content for July 1-15, 2023 alone generated 129.3 million views. It further won more eyeballs for its videos on July 16-31, 2023, accumulating 169 million views.  For the whole month of July, GMA Network’s Tiktok account is ahead of ABS-CBN’s which tallied a total of 117.3 million content views.

Among the GMA Network content that Tiktok users viewed the most are the trending clips on Abot-Kamay na Pangarap, Voltes V Legacy, Royal Blood, and Magandang Dilag. The month of July also highlighted GMA’s official partnership with TikTok PH for GMA Gala Night 2023 that happened last July 22. Creating a massive buzz for the event, the #GMAGala2023 hashtag on TikTok amassed a total of 506.8 million video views on July 16-31, 2023 comprising of trending posts from celebrities, official entertainment accounts, and other media partners. GMA Network’s TikTok account currently has over 3.7 million followers. Hostless "Stars On Stars" Kicks Off On Jeepney TV's YouTube Channel

There are no holds barred in Jeepney TV’s “Stars on Stars", a hostless online talk show that premiered on YouTube last August 12, 2023. The pilot episode’s guests, couple John Prats and Isabel Oli, threw each other the juiciest questions they previously never asked each other and discovered a lot about their partner after eight years of being married. “Perfect yung questions na na-prepare.
