Planet Earth III makes its debut across Asia on BBC Earth and BBC's online content streaming platforms in select countries this year, almost two decades since the original Planet Earth series first redefined natural history filmmaking. Presented by Sir David Attenborough, Planet Earth III is the upcoming instalment of the groundbreaking and award-winning Planet Earth trilogy. This eight-part series follows some of the world’s most amazing species and tells extraordinary stories that are dramatic, thrilling, funny and sometimes heart-breaking, but always full of hope. Featuring never-seen-before animal behaviours, Planet Earth III deep dives into the stories and animal characters which reflect the new challenges that wildlife faces in our modern, crowded world.

Planet Earth III highlights some of the most fantastic locations across Asia including travelling to Gomantong & Sukau in Borneo to spend time with the Oriental Pied Hornbill, to Dauin in The Philippines to see the Frogfish, Raja Ampat in Indonesia to investigate the lives of the Archer Fish and even visit one of the world’s largest natural cave Hang Son Doong in Vietnam. Locations in Asia include the Maldives, Raja Ampat in Indonesia, the Gobi Desert in Mongolia, Ke Bang National Park in Vietnam, Yala National Park in Sri Lanka, Sukkur region in Pakistan, and West Bengal in India. With over 100 years of storytelling heritage at the BBC, BBC Studios’ Natural History Unit is in a unique position to produce a documentary of this scale and importance. Filmed over the course of nearly five years, Planet Earth III travels to spectacular unseen landscapes. Pioneering filmmaking technology like lightweight drones, high-speed cameras and remotely operated deep-sea submersibles transport audiences from the most remote jungles to the deepest oceans, and from the darkest caves to the hottest deserts.

From the makers of Blue Planet II and Planet Earth II, Planet Earth III will also highlight the growing need to preserve and restore nature. We’ve reached a critical point in our planet’s history and the natural world has changed more over the past few decades than ever previously observed in our human history. These changes have been felt across every ecosystem and by the countless creatures that we share this planet with. In the final episode, viewers will meet some of the dedicated ‘heroes’ across the globe who put their lives on the line to protect the wildlife and the critically important ecosystems of our planet. Planet Earth III premieres on October 29, 2023 and airs every Sunday at 8:00 pm PHT/HKT/SGT (7:00 pm WIB/9:00 pm KST) on the BBC Earth channel which is available via pay television operators in Hong Kong, Indonesia, Malaysia, Mongolia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan, Thailand and Vietnam. On the other hand, Planet Earth III is a co-produced in Japan in association with NHK and is available in India as a joint-venture channel on Sony BBC Earth. Viewers can also watch the documentary series live and on-demand on BBC Player in Singapore, Malaysia and Taiwan and BBC Earth SVOD in Taiwan.
