The Philippine Sports Commission (PSC)-Philippine Olympic Committee (POC) Media Group is set to honor the future heroes of Philippine sports anew as it brings back the Siklab Youth Sports Awards which will be held on December 4, 2023 at the Market! Market! Activity Center in Bonifacio Global City (BGC) in Taguig City. Previously held in 2018 and 2019 before it was indefinitely shelved due to the global COVID-19 pandemic, the Siklab Youth Sports Awards returns for its third edition with a total of 59 awardees from 33 sports to be recognized for their performance in various local and international competitions that will propel them to greater heights in the foreseeable future.
Leading the awardees for the Siklab Youth Sports Awards class of 2023 are double Asian Games bronze medalist Alex Eala (tennis), World Combat Games champion Alyssa Kylie Mallari (muay thai), weightlifting world youth champion Prince Keil Delos Santos and 20 other athletes from various sports named Go For Gold Siklab Young Heroes during the gala for the finest Filipino athletes 18 years old and younger. Asian youth double gold medalist Artegal Barrientos (bowling), Asian championship junior silver medalist Karl Eldrew Yulo (gymnastics), and Southeast Asian Games gold medalists Kira Ellis and Matthew Hermosa will likewise headline the event organized in partnership with the Philippine Sports Commission and the Philippine Olympic Committee.
World champions Joseph Anthony Godbout (modern pentathlon), Erica Arnaiz (softball), Jan Brix Ramiscal (muay thai) and Asian championships bronze medalist Jasmine Althea Ramildo (gymnastics) will banner the Burlington Super Kids Award along with Lucho Aguilar (wrestling), Trisha Mae Del Rosario (obstacle sports) and Sebastian Niel MaƱalac (karate). Sharing the limelight during the awards night backed by MVP Sports Foundation, Smart/PLDT, CEL Logistics, JC Premiere, NLEX, Pacquiao 3-in-1 Coffee, Blue Hydra and Gilligan’s are Rising Stars awardees Christian Gian Karlo Tade and Mark Jay Bacojo (chess); Miel Mckenzie Cipriano, Miguel Carlos and Marc Dominic Collantes (archery); Mico Villaran (athletics) and Julian de Kam (swimming).
With Market! Market! and Ayala Malls renewing their support as venue partners, the third edition of the Siklab awards will present a special citation to the Youth Football League and the Davao Aguilas Football Club supported by Quezon City First District Congressman Hon. Juan Carlos “Arjo’’ Atayde. This year, pole vault celebrity EJ Obiena is the hands-down Sports Idol awardee while ASEAN Para Games double gold medalist Ariel Alegarbes (swimming) is the lone recipient of the Para Youth Star award during the event which will be graced by Senator Christopher “Bong’’ Go as the guest of honor and godfather awardee.
