No bad deed goes unpunished in Marvel Studios’ “Echo”, launching exclusively worldwide on Disney+ on January 10, 2024. The series stars Alaqua Cox as the titular Maya “Echo” Lopez, a deaf Native American hailing from the Choctaw tribe who was once a member of “The Kingpin” Wilson Fisk’s (Vincent D’Onofrio) criminal empire. Despite her inability to hear, Lopez developed photographic reflexes, allowing her to mimic attacks and moves while fighting. She combines that extraordinary ability with her martial arts and firearms training to become a formidable force capable of deadly combat. As she faces her family and turbulent past, Lopez has to put her own legacy on the line in a violent struggle for control.

In honor of Choctaw Day, a special screening of the first two episodes of Marvel Studios’ “Echo” was recently held for the indigenous community, honoring and preserving the Choctaw people’s journey, culture, and history as the US observed and celebrated Native American Month. “Echo” also stars Chaske Spencer, Graham Greene, Tantoo Cardinal, Devery Jacobs , Zahn McClarnon, Cody Lightning and Vincent D’Onofrio. The series is directed by Sydney Freeland and Catriona McKenzie. All five episodes of “Echo” will be available starting January 10th of next year which also marks the first time a Marvel Studios series will have all episodes available for streaming at once.

SM Cares, together with SM Supermalls and Toy Kingdom, returns with their annual Christmas charity project, the SM Bears of Joy. This year, SM debuts its very first B-POP (short for Bear Pop) group, the Bear Pop Squad. This new group of idols captures the hearts of fans with the relatable stories they share, mirroring their fans’ daily experiences, as it aims to inspire the same sense of community displayed by pop fandoms as mallgoers join in sharing a bear to a child in need for every purchase. B-POP comprises of the following:

• BIN, the group’s groovy dancer who also enjoys nature hikes with his friends and volunteering at coastal clean-ups in his spare time.
• The strong personality of the group's rapper EYA comes out in her rap verses, but deep down, she’s an angel who loves to bike, enjoys payday sales, and has a heart for dogs (even if she’s allergic to them).
• The squad’s maknae, ACE, is a vocal powerhouse who makes friends with people both in and out the industry and loves to volunteer at children’s hospitals.
• RINA, the group’s beloved leader, is always ready to lend a hand to help those in need and a Grandma’s girl who always takes on the household chores.

This collection features four brand-new designs that draw inspiration from the K-POP and P-POP communities and highlights the unity and togetherness in fan culture when it comes to celebrating shared interests. SM’s Bear Pop Squad hopes to encourage customers and mallgoers to celebrate both the love of friendship and community as displayed by pop fandoms, and share that with children in need this Christmas season. The Bear Pop Squad is available until December 25, 2023 in select SM Supermalls and Toy Kingdom branches and can also be purchased through SM Online and Toy Kingdom Online Stores. Purchase one of the four members of the B-POP Squad for only Php250 and donate another for a child in need.

‘Tis the season to celebrate love as one family as Francine Diaz, Seth Fedelin, Alexa Ilacad, and other Star Magic artists “Share the Magic” by giving back to their select beneficiaries. “Share the Magic” is an initiative of Star Magic wherein artists spread the love and gratitude this Christmas season by helping a charity or beneficiary of their choice. “Fractured” stars Francine, Seth, and Raven Rigor kicked off the campaign by visiting an orphanage named Ephesus: Home for Girls. Francine couldn’t help but feel emotional after they were able to bond with the children and learn more about their struggles at an early age. “We want to share the love, especially sa mga bata. Ayokong mawala sa kanila ‘yung Christmas feeling. Kasi kapag lumalaki ka na, parang nawawala ‘yung excitement na magpa-Pasko na,” said Francine in a vlog released on Star Magic’s YouTube channel on why they chose to visit the orphanage.

Alexa Ilacad also spread Christmas cheer, together with Star Magic comedians Eric Nicolas and Nonong Ballinan, with “Laban Lungs: A Benefit Concert for Sherwin Buenvenida". Sherwin is a former head writer for ABS-CBN who is currently battling cancer. “I can’t imagine what Kuya Sherwin went through, what his family went through. I hope you know that I’m here. We’re going to do everything we can to help,” said Alexa in a heartfelt message. Viewers can look forward to more “Share The Magic” videos featuring other artists soon as Star Magic continues to celebrate the magic of giving back.

Meanwhile, Star Magic artists will come together once more as they celebrate the spirit of togetherness and thanksgiving in “Star Magical Christmas" which will be livestreamed worldwide on Star Magic’s YouTube channel on November 19, 2023 (Sunday) at 6:00 pm PHT.
