ABS-CBN Global, on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of its flagship multimedia brand TFC (The Filipino Channel), partners with the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) in the Philippines, the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA), and the Philippine Consulate General of Hong Kong to co-present with the Global Alliance of Hong Kong the TFC 30th Happy Hour at the MWO-OWWA OFW Migrant Workers Day festival on June 2, 2024 at Chater Road in Hong Kong. The event is also a celebration in advance of June 12 which is the 126th anniversary of Philippine Independence Day. June 7 was declared as National Migrant Workers Day in the Philippines in 1995 when Republic Act 8042 or the Migrant Workers Act of 1995 was signed into law. It emphasizes the huge contributions made by the Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) in nation-building and the Philippine government's continuing support for their welfare.
ABS-CBN's TFC, which has been in the service of the Filipino everywhere since its inception, honors the celebration in Hong Kong by bringing the best of Filipino talent as represented by Jed Madela and Reiven Umali to perform at the TFC Happy Hour of the event. Jed became the first Filipino to win the top prize of the World Championship of Performing Arts (WCOPA) when he bested over 3,000 contestants from 52 countries in 2005. Aside from winning international singing contests, Jed went on to garner success as a recording artist, TV host, live performer, songwriter and even mentor to aspiring singers. Born in Iloilo, this phenomenal countertenor is hailed by media as "The Singer's Singer" and "The Voice". Reiven, on the other hand, captured many hearts via his showstopping performances on It's Showtime's "Tawag ng Tanghalan" where he was hailed as the grand champion in 2021. Prior to winning the top plum, he was a six-time defending champion from the daily rounds leading to the quarterfinals. After his big victory, Reiven became a familiar face on top shows like "ASAP Natin 'To" and "Magandang Buhay".

Filipinos were in for a wild ride as Warner Bros. Pictures, in anticipation of the opening of “Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga", unveiled the Furiosa jeepney which offered free rides to commuters on Labor Day (May 1, 2024) as a celebration of all workers who use the essential vehicle in their daily commute to work. The one-of-a-kind ride is a concept that explores both the post-apocalyptic look of the Mad Max vehicles and the ingenuity of the Filipino design. The jeepney activation pays homage to the iconic Philippine mode of transport and hopes to honor it by giving it a global spotlight.
The jeepney had pick-up and drop off points at the LRT Buendia station and SM Mall of Asia from 8:00 am to 3:00 pm. Riders who hopped on the jeep also received exclusive “Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga” freebies. The Furiosa jeepney also traveled throughout Metro Manila during the weekend.with the help of partner exhibitors SM, Ayala, Megaworld, and Gateway. On May 4, the tour started, covering the southern area with stops at the Venice Grand Canal Mall, and Ayala Malls Manila Bay. The jeepney made its final stop for the day in front of the SM Mall of Asia Globe, ending the first leg of the tour. On May 5, the jeepney blazed through the rest of the region with stops at SM Megamall, Robinsons Galleria, Eastwood, and SM North EDSA. The Furiosa jeepney tour ended at Gateway 2 with the jeepney being showcased along with the trailer for the highly anticipated new Mad Max film playing across the Quantum Skyview.

Marvel Universe LIVE! Heads To Manila For The First Time On June 2024

Marvel and superhero fans in the Philippines are in for a treat this coming Father’s Day as Feld Entertainment, in partnership with SM Mall of Asia Arena, brings Marvel Universe LIVE! to the country for the first time. With the country being the show’s first and sole stop in Southeast Asia, Marvel Universe LIVE! will be showcasing the most iconic characters from the Marvel Universe to SM Mall of Asia Arena for eight days of thrilling performances on June 7-16, 2024.
“We are excited to share with you that this is one of the best shows that we have for Filipino families,” said SM Mall of Asia Arena Senior Assistant Vice President, General Manager and Business Unit Head Arnel Gonzales. Featuring the Avengers and the Guardians of the Galaxy, the show will keep fans at the edge of their seats with thrilling stunts and advanced special effects as the Earth’s mightiest heroes fight off the forces of evil led by the universe’s most cunning villains like Nebula, Loki, and the Green Goblin. “The scale of [Marvel Universe LIVE!] is really bigger than any show we had… you’re going to see the same quality production here in Manila that you see in Australia, that you see in the US,” said Feld Entertainment Senior Director for Asia Pacific (APAC) Matthew Garrick during the media conference for the upcoming show. Garrick further said that the show will take on a unique storyline in the Marvel Universe that has never been seen in the comics, the films, or the games. “When you come to the show, your only chance to see this part of the Marvel Universe story is to see it live here in Manila. We worked closely with Marvel to develop this story that integrates into the Marvel Universe, so that’s a big piece of the show and a big reason why the show is unique to anything you’ll see in the movies,” said Garrick.

ABS-CBN News' Summer Fair Brings Health, Government Services To Filipinos

On a hot summer day, the serene atmosphere of the Quezon City Memorial Circle transformed into a bustling one-stop shop as people flocked to the park to avail of free services from ABS-CBN News’ Grand Kapamilya Summer Fair. Over 1,000 people got to call themselves as registered voters because of the participation of COMELEC (Commission on Elections) at the said affair while others also got to raise their concerns about membership status and modify their personal data at the PhilHealth and SSS booths.
The Philippine College of Surgeons (PCS) was also present at the Summer Fair as they offered free medical and dental services to attendees. The Summer Fair also featured livelihood seminars, Zumba sessions, and free food and face painting while several attendees enjoyed the TV Patrol ‘reporter challenge’ booth. Meanwhile, Vivoree, KD Estrada, Jason Dy, Marlo Mortel, and BGYO, among others, treated attendees to a free mini concert at the Summer Fair. Hosted by ABS-CBN News, the Grand Kapamilya Summer Fair aims to bring public services closer to more Filipinos. It was also the first onsite event of ABS-CBN News after the pandemic.
