Piolo Pascual is stepping out of his comfort zone as he takes on his most vile role to date in his highly-anticipated TV comeback for ABS-CBN Studios' “Pamilya Sagrado", the biggest and highly-anticipated family drama of 2024 which also stars Kyle Echarri and Grae Fernandez. Known for his romcom charm and dramatic portrayals in various shows and movies, viewers will see a totally different side of Piolo as Rafael Sagrado, a sly and corrupt politician and a father that is basking in the glory of his family’s power and greed. “He’s not all good. He starts out really dark. I really brought out the darkest side of him to show his redemption towards the end. I always try to diversify and do roles na alam kong hindi ko pa nagagawa and that would really challenge me as an artist,” shared Piolo about his character in an interview recently.
"Pamilya Sagrado” is a gripping tale on the value of brotherhood and loyalty to one’s family. The story will navigate the complex world of fraternities and hazing and what it means to go against one’s morals for the sake of protecting one’s reputation. The story will introduce Rafael, an influential governor who is continuing his family’s political reigns. In the same vein, viewers will also witness the clash between Moises and Justine (Kyle and Grae), two boys who come from completely different worlds. Moises is a simple yet persevering boy with big dreams while Justine, the son of Rafael, is an entitled boy that feels the innate pressure from his family to succeed in life. Despite their differences, Moises and Justine eventually form an unbreakable bond. The Sagrado family’s reputation will be put in great danger when a wrongful death of a student due to hazing gets traced to a fraternity group led by Justine. With everything at risk, the Sagrados go great lengths to protect their sacred image and throughout the process, dark secrets come to light and threaten to break their family apart.
Meanwhile, Asia’s Songbird Regine Velasquez-Alcasid gives a powerful rendition to “Ulit Ulit", the official theme song of “Pamilya Sagrado". Now streaming on digital music platforms worldwide under Star Music, “Ulit Ulit” is a song of love and betrayal composed and produced by ABS-CBN Music creative director Jonathan Manalo. Music fans hailed the OST on YouTube for its genuine heartbreaking feels. One viewer said, “Hauntingly Beautiful!!!!! Grabe talaga kumanta si Queen Regine! Damang dama mo! Ang gandaaaa ang galing!! Mapanaket!! Nag iisa ka Songbird!!!” Another online viewer commended the vocal layering heard in the theme song, saying, “Grabe yung vocal layers. Ang sarap pakinggan. Hindi lang basta nagkukwento si Regine sa kantang ito, talagang sinigurado niyang maipaparating niya rin yung emosyon na nais iparamdam ng kantang ito." “Ulit Ulit” also features back-up vocals from Kapamilya artists Lyka Estrella and Trisha Denise.
“Pamilya Sagrado” premieres on June 17 (Monday) at 8:45 pm on Kapamilya Channel, A2Z, TV5, Kapamilya Online Live on Facebook and YouTube, and TFC (The Filipino Channel) for viewers outside the Philippines. The series also streams 48 hours before its TV broadcast on iWantTFC. Produced by Dreamscape Entertainment and directed by Lawrence Fajardo, Andoy Ranay, and Rico Navarro, “Pamilya Sagrado” boasts of a powerhouse cast of industry veterans Shaina Magdayao, Mylene Dizon, Rosanna Roces, Aiko Melendez, Tirso Cruz III, John Arcilla, and Joel Torre.
