South Korean actor Kim Ji Soo recently made his Philippine debut as a cast member of GMA-7's hit primetime action drama series “Black Rider". Best known for his memorable and lovable roles in popular K-dramas such as “Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo” as the 14th Prince, “Strong Girl Bong-soon" and “My First First Love", Ji Soo portrays as Adrian Park, a half-Filipino, half-Korean professional killer who has showcased his impressive handgun skills in a scene alongside Yassi Pressman as Vanessa Romero as well as his acting prowess in a dramatic encounter with the series' antagonists led by Calvin Magallanes played by Jon Lucas.
Kim Ji Soo’s dedication to his craft is evident as he continues to improve his English and learn Filipino, immersing himself in his character and the local culture as soon as he lands here in the country. Ji Soo’s acting career in the Philippines is being spearheaded by Universal Records Philippines Managing Director Kathleen Dy-Go in partnership with Korean-based talent management agency SHOW Co. "A Quiet Place: Day One" Roars To Record-Breaking Franchise Best And 2nd Biggest Opening Weekend For 2024 In PH Cinemas
(Image Source: Orange Magazine TV/Columbia Pictures Philippines/Paramount Pictures) |
"A Quiet Place: Day One" sets the biggest opening weekend in the history of the franchise with a global box-office gross of $98.5M. The film is also making noise locally as the 2nd biggest opening weekend in the Philippines for 2024. Set in one of the loudest cities on Earth, the third installment of the A Quiet Place franchise takes audiences back to the day the world went quiet, putting the city of New York on a standstill against hostile creatures that attack anything that makes noise.
IGN praises A Quiet Place: Day One, as the best in the series, writing, “It’s impressive just how great A Quiet Place: Day One is. Not that the first two Quiet Place movies weren’t good – they’re both strong films in their own right. But this spinoff/prequel to those earlier films introduces new characters in a new setting that successfully elevates both the tension and the emotional impact of John Krasinski’s nearly dialogue-free horror films. The result is the series’ best movie to date.” The Guardian affirms the strength and impact of the film, lauding the cast and choice of setting, stating, "It could be the idea of setting the Quiet Place prequel in New York, one of the noisiest places on Earth. Or perhaps it’s because the intimate, taut horror premise of the first two pictures is beefed up with some robust city-smashing disaster movie muscle. Maybe it’s the casting of the always excellent Lupita Nyong’o in a textured and complex role – she plays Sam, a poet and a terminal cancer patient who just wants to live a little before she dies. All of this combines to ramp up the impact of A Quiet Place: Day One considerably, compared with its immediate predecessor.”
The Los Angeles Times notes the unique premise of the film, writing, “It’s a refreshing, near-radical concept to build a studio film around, and as Sam sets off, a tote bag on her arm and her black-and-white support cat Frodo beside her, you may be reminded of that other woman-and-feline survival story, Alien, stripped to the bone." Don’t miss out on the spine-tingling thrills as A Quiet Place: Day One is now showing in Philippine cinemas.

The much-talked about "Eraserheads Huling El Bimbo World Tour 2024" will only make one Asian tour stop and the lucky destination is Singapore, the Lion City of the region. ABS-CBN Global Asia Pacific, in partnership with WEU Event Management Services and DVent Productions, is offering the Singapore-based fans of the most famous and successful Filipino rock band of all time a Thanksgiving treat this year when it brings the tour on November 23, 2024 (Saturday) to the Arena @ EXPO (Hall 7). Located at Singapore EXPO, the country's largest meetings, incentives, conventions and exhibitions (MICE) venue, the Arena @ EXPO is a newly refurbished state-of-the-art concert venue whose cutting-edge technology and flexible design space provide the best concert experience for artists and audiences.
Tickets to this only Asian stop of the "Eraserheads Huling El Bimbo World Tour 2024" are already going fast and are projected to sell out very soon. "We had just announced the concert and we've already sold half of the venue capacity. There is no dilly-dallying for true Eraserheads fans. If they build it, they will come. So, we are reminding people that we do expect a packed house on November 23 and suggest you get your tickets now before they're completely gone," said ABS-CBN Global Limited's Asia Pacific Regional Marketing Head Raymund Romero. This comes as no surprise after the band's last concert in the Philippines, "Ang Huling El Bimbo Reunion Concert", in December 2022 – which drew a crowd of 75,000 and was livestreamed to a global audience by ABS-CBN's streaming platform iWantTFC – was honored with the Concert of the Year award at the 15th Philippine Movie Press Club's (PMPC) Star Awards for Music.
The Eraserheads is also coming off the heels of its successful North American tour in 2023. But for this world tour, the band is revamping its 2023 setlist to accommodate more of its underrated tracks as well as a few song covers. Expect "surprises" in every stop of the tour. Composed of Ely Buendia (lead vocals, rhythm guitar), Marcus Adoro (lead guitar), Buddy Zabala (bass) and Raimund Marasigan (drums), the "Eraserheads Huling El Bimbo World Tour 2024" is expected to be the biggest Filipino concert in Singapore which has a population of around 200,000 Filipinos.
