The East Asia Super League (EASL) has unveiled its highly anticipated 2024-25 season schedule, promising basketball fans an exhilarating lineup of matchups featuring East Asia's elite teams. This season marks an exciting expansion with the addition of two new teams following the recent inclusion of the Hong Kong Eastern and Macau Black Bears.
The EASL season will feature 30 group stage games, spanning from October 2, 2024 to February 12, 2025. All ten participating teams will compete in round-robin play, each playing six games — three at home and three on the road. The championship will culminate in a four-team, four-game Final Four playoff, scheduled for March 7-9, 2025. The season will kick off with a group stage divided into two dynamic groups:
Group A:
• Hiroshima Dragonflies, 2023-2024 Japan B.LEAGUE Champions
• Suwon KT Sonicboom, 2023-2024 Korean Basketball League (KBL) Runner-Up
• San Miguel Beermen, 2023-2024 Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) Commissioner’s Cup Champions
• Taoyuan Pauian Pilots, 2023-24 P. LEAGUE+ Runner-Up
• Hong Kong Eastern, Hong Kong S.A.R. Champions
Group B:
• Ryukyu Golden Kings, 2023-2024 B.LEAGUE Runner-Up
• Busan KCC Egis, 2023-2024 KBL Champions
• Meralco Bolts, 2024 PBA Philippine Cup Champions
• New Taipei Kings, 2023-2024 P. LEAGUE+ Champions
• Macau Black Bears, Macau S.A.R. Champions
October 2, 2024 – Season Tipoff
The EASL 2024-2025 season gets underway with a thrilling double-header in Manila. The San Miguel Beermen will open the season against Korean powerhouse Suwon KT Sonicboom. In the late slate, the Meralco Bolts will seek redemption from a challenging previous season as they face EASL newcomers, the Macau Black Bears.
October 16, 2024 – Group B – Ryukyu Golden Kings vs. Meralco Bolts
A rematch of last season’s Clash of the Champions in Macau where the Meralco Bolts stunned the Ryukyu Golden Kings in Studio City in an overtime thriller. The Bolts' victory gave Meralco the first win from a Philippine side all season while putting a massive dent in Ryukyu’s hopes of making the Final Four. Will Ryukyu avenge their costly loss last season or does Meralco have their number?
December 11, 2024 – Mid-Season Classic
The EASL returns to Macau for the Mid-Season Classic featuring two exciting matchups. The Taoyuan Pauian Pilots will take on Suwon KT Sonicboom while the Macau Black Bears will host the New Taipei Kings, last season’s fourth-place finishers.
December 25, 2024 – Group B – Ryukyu Golden Kings vs. New Taipei Kings
The P. LEAGUE+ champions New Taipei Kings will travel to Okinawa to clash with B.LEAGUE runners-up, the Ryukyu Golden Kings. The two teams split their previous encounters last season. However, New Taipei secured one more win in the Group Stage last season to beat out Ryukyu for a spot in the 2024 EASL Final Four. Will the Golden Kings avenge their last season’s disappointments and come out stronger against the Kings?
