The Batangas Energy Summit 2025 brought together representatives of local governments, national government agencies, energy sector companies, private businesses, civil society organizations, and academia in the Province of Batangas at LIMA Park in Malvar, Batangas last March 20, 2025. The gathering, jointly organized by the Department of Energy, Provincial Government of Batangas, De La Salle University (DLSU) – Manila, and First Gen Corporation, aims to formulate a unified vision towards a long-term, secure, and affordable energy supply not only in the province, but also in the entire Philippines.

The Batangas Energy Summit 2025 highlights the current state of the economy and energy sector in the province; policies covering energy; steps towards energy security, including innovations, strategies and solutions; and future actions for “sustainable energy development” throughout Batangas. Experts and managers from the Department of Energy, provincial governments, Department of Trade and Industry – Board of Investments (DTI-BOI), First Gen Corporation, Pi Energy, MERALCO, BATELEC II (Batangas II Electric Cooperative Inc.), and DLSU-Manila served as resource persons, focusing on important topics including renewable energy, energy investment opportunities, regeneration with data and analytics, sustainable energy development, and energy-related policies. Batangas Governor Hermilando Mandanas emphasized that it is important to improve and further develop renewable energy resources in the province, such as solar and wind power projects, to help in continued development, while also protecting the nature and the environment.

The importance of providing incentives for continuous renewable energy production on the part of companies and investors and consumer or end-user adoption of these innovative technologies was also discussed. Actively participating in the program were Vice Governor Mark Leviste, Provincial Administrator Wilfredo Racelis, Atty. Angelica Chua Mandanas, provincial government officials, and representatives of local governments and various private companies in the province in the field of energy. The Provincial Planning and Development Office hosted the summit, which concluded with a speech by Professor Alvin Culaba, Director of the Center for Engineering and Sustainable Development Research of DLSU and Vice President of the Philippine National Academy of Science and Technology, who reminded the importance of having a “cleaner energy future” through continued investment in “clean energy investments” and formulating policies that stem from good ideas.
