Multi-awarded Filipino media executive and actress Charo Santos-Concio was recently honored with a Parangal ng Sining Lifetime Achievement award by the Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP) for her invaluable contributions to the country’s film industry. Presented by Head of Entertainment Production and Star Magic Laurenti M. Dyogi, the former president and CEO of ABS-CBN Corporation, the premiere media and entertainment company in the Philippines, was recognized for being a beacon of excellence, integrity, and innovation and for helping take Filipino storytelling to new heights.
In a social post, the FDCP, the Philippines' national film council in charge of creating and implementing policies and programs to ensure the economic, cultural, and educational development and growth of the film industry, described Charo’s career through the years, stating, "Her remarkable journey — from a celebrated actress to a pioneering producer and transformative media executive — has redefined storytelling and elevated Filipino cinema to new heights. Her legacy continues to inspire and empower generations of filmmakers and audiences, both locally and on the global stage.” Charo joined ABS-CBN in 1987 and eventually became its president in 2008. She has received numerous accolades, including the 2019 FAMAS Lifetime Achievement Award, 2014 Gold Stevie Award in the Female Executive of the Year in Asia, Australia, or New Zealand category, a 2014 Gold Asia Pacific Stevie Award in the Woman of the Year category for all Asia-Pacific nations (except Australia and South Korea), ContentAsia's 2014 Asian Media Woman of the Year, and 2013 KBP Golden Dove Lifetime Achievement Award.
