On The Radar: PPCPI Reaffirms Commitment To Sustainability Through Joining Earth Hour, Lights Out For A Brighter Future

In a powerful demonstration of environmental responsibility, Pepsi-Cola Products Philippines Inc. (PCPPI), the exclusive manufacturer of PepsiCo beverages in the country, joined the global community in celebrating Earth Hour 2025. The initiative underscored the company’s long-standing commitment to sustainability and environmental stewardship. Last March 22, 2025, PCPPI’s Bravehearts — dedicated employees from its plants nationwide — participated in Earth Hour by switching off non-essential lights from 8:30 to 9:30 pm. This symbolic act of solidarity with the planet resulted in a total energy savings of 117.11 kilowatt-hours (kWh) across its facilities — roughly equivalent to powering an average Filipino household for over a week. 

“Earth Hour is more than just turning off lights. It’s about making a meaningful impact through collective action. We’re proud of our Bravehearts who took part in this effort, and we are even more motivated to build on these small but significant steps,” said PCPPI’s Chief Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) Officer Atty. Carina Bayon. Capturing the active participation in this global movement is the breakdown of energy savings achieved by various PCPPI plants: Sto. Tomas (22.81 kWh), Naga (2.98 kWh), San Fernando (9.32 kWh), Rosario (22.98 kWh), Cebu (9.98 kWh), Bacolod (4.00 kWh), Iloilo (19.27 kWh), Tanauan (8.48 kWh), Davao (8.15 kWh), Cagayan de Oro (6.70 kWh), and Zamboanga (2.44 kWh). 

This initiative is one of many under PCPPI’s growing sustainability agenda which aligns with global environmental goals and the company’s broader mission to care for the planet. PCPPI has consistently rolled out programs focused on water stewardship, solid waste management, and energy efficiency across its operations. Looking ahead, PCPPI is planning to introduce even more eco-friendly measures throughout 2025. Atty. Bayon added, “These efforts reaffirm the company’s belief that business success and environmental responsibility go hand-in-hand.”

Jollibee Group And Polytechnic University Of The Philippines Enter Partnership To Strengthen Workforce Development And Education

Homegrown restaurant company Jollibee Group, Jollibee Group Foundation (JGF), and the Polytechnic University of the Philippines (PUP) have entered into a strategic partnership to bridge academia and industry, focusing on curriculum development for PUP students, continuous learning for Jollibee Group employees, and a Php5M (five million pesos) donation to construct a business intelligence hub as part of JGF’s thrust to promote quality in higher education. 

During the signing ceremony, Jollibee Group Philippines Chief Human Resources Officer and Jollibee International HR Head Ruth Angeles emphasized the company’s commitment to building a sustainable workforce pipeline, from equipping students with the skills to meet industry demands, facilitating knowledge sharing among experts and educators, and enhancing Jollibee Group’s employee capabilities. Cebu Pacific Catering Services Joins Global Airline Caterers Shifting To 100% Cage-Free Eggs

Leading airline catering provider Cebu Pacific Catering Services (CPCS) recently won praise from international non-government organization (NGO) Lever Foundation for committing to sourcing 100% cage-free eggs across its operations by 2030. This commitment aligns CPCS with a growing movement among international airline caterers to advance animal welfare standards in their supply chains. “Our commitment to sourcing 100% cage-free eggs by 2030 reflects CPCS’s dedication to aligning with global sustainability standards while maintaining the highest quality in airline catering. This initiative represents an important step in our ongoing efforts to implement responsible sourcing practices that meet international standards,” said Cebu Pacific Catering Services Inc. General Manager Sherwin B. Olivar. 

A joint venture between MacroAsia Corporation, Cathay Pacific Catering Services of Hong Kong, and MGO Pacific Resources Corporation, CPCS prepares over 2000 meals daily for International flights at Mactan-Cebu International Airport. The company’s commitment follows similar pledges by major airline caterers worldwide including its partner Cathay Pacific Catering Services in Hong Kong, demonstrating a coordinated industry shift toward more responsible sourcing practices. “CPCS’s full transition to cage-free eggs demonstrates its strong leadership in sustainability within the airline catering sector. Their decision will influence regional supply chains and show how international partnerships can drive positive change in the aviation services industry,” said Lever Foundation's Sustainability Program Manager Robyn Del Rosario which worked with the company on developing its new commitment. 

Cage-free egg production, in which hens are given the freedom to move in open indoor environments, improves animal welfare and significantly lowers food safety risks compared to caged egg production. Exhaustive research by the European Food Safety Authority found that cage-free egg farms are up to 25 times less likely to be contaminated with key strains of salmonella than caged egg farms. The production of caged eggs has been banned across Europe, as well as in the United Kingdom, Canada, New Zealand, Bhutan and parts of India, Australia and the United States. An increasing number of consumers have also been leaving eggs off their plate as the best way to help laying hens.

A ceremonial signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was held at Book Nook in SM Podium, marking the beginning of an inspiring new chapter in inclusive employment. Book Nook, a flagship community learning hub under SM Cares, will soon welcome individuals on the spectrum as Book Nook concierges, bringing SM’s inclusive vision to life in a space that champions learning, connection, and belonging.

Angeline Quinto, who is now under Universal Records, just released a brand new song entitled “Being With You” which is the quintessential Angeline Quinto song that is beautifully sung, full of emotions, and boasts of impressively high notes. Fun fact: before it became the beautiful track we now know as “Being With You”, the song was originally penned in Korean. The song was composed, produced, mixed, and mastered in Korea, as well. The track is a romantic ballad made up of beautiful orchestral elements, from the hypnotically soft keys, to the emotional strings, supported by story-telling through percussive instruments, constantly building up to a powerful climax. 

The Power Diva went live on TikTok minutes before the drop of her newest song, and excitedly waited for the release together with her fans and supporters. After listening to it together with those who joined her livestream, Angeline couldn’t help but feel grateful for all the words of support from the comments section.
